What can I delet from the gfx folder without braking the game?

I'm trying to create a version of hoi that takes less disk space. I've noticed that the gfx folder is the 'heaviest' one, with 718mb of space and 1,3gb of disk space.

Is there anything that I can delete that will not brake the game? I don't use sprites, and I wouldn't mind that a lot of countries had unique backgrounds. Also, I have noticed that there are some leftovers from other games, like missionaries bitmaps and such.

Also, can I delete the \avi folder?

Avi folder can be dumped.

Technically you could dump the whole 'Pics' folder (very space heavy) - getting rid of all your ministers, tech pics and leaders, but your game will look very, very, very ugly.

Lookout though, the game may or may not start with a error, if the loading screen gets stuck press enter and most of the time it will continue, as you just clicked "Ignore" on the error box.

Don't permanently delete the files just in case, but that's the list I use myself w/o problems.

And for those who don't want to do the same deletions every time, here is a simple batch file to do the job.

It does not clean the file marked as Arma only, or the two unsures. Also, there are two misspellings. These misspellings will not affect the deletion of the other files, but these two files will not be deleted. Could somebody run the file from the command prompt and write down the misspelled files?

One deletion would be the skins. If you open the gfx\skins folder, delete everything except the default folder. Then you'll get the default skin regardless of who you play. Each "skin" takes up about 3 MB.

You can also delete all of the nation specific division and brigade pics (i.e., the ones that are ill_TAG_div_#_# and ill_TAG_bri_#_#)
