I love Mega Campaigns and I sometimes add rules to make the game more balanced to prevent being too overpowered in Vic2 and Hoi4.

What rules do you add to make the campaign more fun and challenging during MCs?

You can pick from this examples:
no allies in offensive wars and when you are GP no allies at all
no vassals
no colonization in the colonial regions
every province must be in the state
don't go over force limit
convert everything to your religion
you can't have more cultures than limit of accepted, as soon as you make a state and have enough dev you need to promote new culture
conquering only full states unless provinces are owned by more than one nation
