So I just started playing the game today and played it for about 4 hours according to steam. I had lots of fun with it though I still understand all of the game mechanics properly yet. What is your general impression of the game right now?

This game plays like should have been called Sim City 4 (Remastered, NAM, Single City, HD). I like that it is so different from SC13 because i am one of the three people in the world that enjoyed the game. This game is wonderful

Addictive and fun although you're limited in what kind of city styles you can build. Medium density being impossible to attain for residential zones, and everyone being upper middle class being my two biggest gripes. Also needs a tree brush. Unlike others, I don't care at all about the issues raised in that 15 page thread.

It's a really solid base. But it needs a lot of polish to become better. More buildings, more mods, more and better parks. Better and more realistic beautfification etc.

I'd probably say it's closer to SC3000 than it is to SC4 because it is one-city rather than region play. Still pretty damn cool.

I like the game very much and I've grabbed a few mods to tweak it to my liking.

1)Removed Chirpy(go ahead, make that noise again!)My complaint is that this mod does not remove him violently enough.
2)A mod that fairly quickly bulldozes abandoned or burnt structures! Some will like manually removing these structures but I find it tedious.
3)The 25 tile mod which I have not used yet but maybe in the future I'll have an idea that needs it

Things I'd like to see!
1)Slight traffic tweaks.....if there are 2 right-turn lanes and a vehicle turning right wants to take a left at the next intersection then it should be in the left-most right-turn lane.
2)No traffic teleportation (in general I want more consequence for bad traffic)

Still, minor gripes for what it's worth. In general I'm loving it 25+ hours in.

I'm going with "quietly reserved".

It brings some good ideas to the genre, but I would not call it the best city builder ever. It has a LOOOOOOONG way to go before it can claim that. There are numerous issues and missing things that need to be addressed first, and only the future will tell which way this game will go.

Extremely pleased.

You know that Civilization's "just one more turn" feeling? I had the same with this game, despite not being turn-based.

Was going to bed 1am at most; but kept delaying it: "I'll just make a few more blocks", "Oh, a traffic problem, I'll just solve this", "Hmm where I'll put this University? This thing will probably generate a lot of traffic...", etc. Repeat until 5am. Two days in a row now.

That said, the difficulty of the game is basically non-existent, if you simply look at money and population numbers as your determining factors, but I noticed that that doesn't bother me.

Fantastic. Easily best out-of-the-box city builder game ever. Perfect? No but remember SC4 wasn't really SC4 until rush hour plus mods like NAM.

Plus it's like $30. It's peanuts.

I've been up until 2am the last few nights. I'm tired and the wife ain't happy.

Love it. I would list what I like but it would be too long of a list. Obviously it has some balance issues/tweaks but that is what we are all here for and with an approachable dev team and an army of modders already at work, the future can only get better.

Things I would love to see tweaked...
A snap tool for straight roads.
A way to reverse one way streets after they get put down.
Some sort of further feedback for tourism, especially large places.
More input and feedback on your bus/transport services, I absolutely love the bus system but would love some way of seeing which ones are being efficient etc.

Its an extremely solid base. Some issues like traffic AI tweaks or improvements that could be done here and there. I hope CO keeps at it, this could be THE city builder for years to come and really make a name for itself like SC4 did back in its day, and even today, still. So yeah, very strong start, keep it up!

I really Like it. It's a great start cannot wait to see what happens to it over the years with expansions and things.

Hopefully they will have perfected, deepened, and expanded this with C:SL 2 if and when they do that.

Overall, I think this is an absolutely mind blowing game coming from a development team of 13 incredibly talented people. The base game is leaps and bounds above any recent competition and with time will likely be considered the best city builder of all time. There are some things I love about the game, and there is a growing list of things I am concerned about and some need almost immediate attention.

1. Road interchanges are a nightmare to redesign. Terrain height / slope makes it so your interstates / highways have to be awkwardly placed when you inevitably have to do some reconstruction
2. Traffic AI is flawed, and priority needs to be given to emergency vehicles if nothing else.
3. Public transportation needs to have more detailed information in the UI, have easier methods of determining route efficiency, and trains have multiple bug issues that need to be figured out.
4. Not the developers fault, but the way mods are setup in the workshop is a nightmare to navigate through and figure out what's worthwhile and what isn't. It's day three and there are approaching 3,000 items in there and few fall into the categories provided and are lumped together under buildings or intersections mostly. Also being able to add a snapshot of a created asset would be nice so fumbling through a hundred intersections for example, isn't required.
5. A few of the mods that people have come up with should not penalize someone for achievements I think. Some don't really do much other than say destroy abandoned / burned down buildings automatically.
6. This one is a big one for me. One big draw of the game is to see your city in action. It seems if you let any time slip by, bad things happen and just pausing the game isn't the answer because there's no fun in watching everything on hold. The game almost forces you to keep moving instead of now and then being able to appreciate what you've worked towards. Even in the early stages when things are going really well for me, that still feels like the case and I can only imagine when you get into the hundreds of thousands of Cims it gets worse.
7. Provide more detailed information about why industry or commercial aren't getting workers / business. This one might just be me playing poorly, but there seems to be times when there should be no reason buildings are going abandoned when they are.

That's all I can think of at the moment. None of these are that terrible for me other than number 6, and I feel all of them can and will be fixed eventually.
