I have modded my HOI to make the game more "realistic" to my tastes based on my reading of history and WW2. I'm curious what other custom mod ideas I may have missed. I'm looking for some ideas. I'll start.

1. Finns: I give their starting units 100 exp, add the winter trait to all their leaders, and give them some starting tech advances so their can give the USSR a tougher fight.

2. Com China: The Jap ai ALWAYS seems to overun the Chi-Coms. I increase their fortication in Ya'an to 8 and changed all their units to Mt Troops. The reasoning being eradicating Mao was tough and the Japs never came close to doing this.

3. Japan: I make their naval leader Tanaka a 9 level w/ SuperiorTac/Spotter. Why? Look at this battle.

Even with him being this level it would still be hard to duplicate his success in a HOI framawork.

4. Japan: I upgrade all the Jap DD by one level. The long lance torpedo gave the Jap DD a lot of firepower. Unfortunately the artificially improves the notoriusly crappy Jap anti-sub abilities but ce la vie'. The Japs start with the 1938 subs and I think

5. USSR: The German ai ALWAYS crushes the USSR in my HOI2 games. I add tech levels to their armor, SP-Art, ST-AT, land doctrine, and industry to make them a tougher nut to crack.

6. Minors: I get tired of nations like Afghanistan/Yemen having 1945 infantry by the end of the game. So I doubled the tech values for 1936, 39, 41, 45 infantry while giving top world powers the blueprints to these techs. To keep nations like Nat-China from getting crushed, I up their land doctrines so their 1918/36 infantry are tougher.

7. Germany. The Turbojet engines sufferred for the lack of advanced metal technology to keep their engines from falling apart due to the stress after only a few hours of use. I increased the supply consumption of these units dramatically.

8. USA, I alter the ai of the USA so they build more SB and less subs. I also got rid of their interceptors and make it so they only build fighters. Fighters have longer ranges which make them for suitable for offensives.

9. USSR: The damn ai often groups highly moble units with infantry w/ art. Making them VERY slow. I change the ai so they only build only SP-Art, AP-AT, and Lt Armor to give them more mobility. Like I said before, the Sov ai always gets crushed by the ai of Germany so I needed to make the ai tougher and luck willing the USSR might be able to take Berlin.

10. I make artillary, sp-art, and sp-at slightly more powerful. I up their soft atacks. A Nashorn SP-AT unit had a 88mm gun which could put the hurt on infantry. I also made the engineer brigade increase the org levels to represent the ability to lay mine fields and blown paths through mine fields when on the offensive. Otherwise engineers would be COMPLETLY useless in HOI.

11. I remove the transports of countries like Brazil and a few other. I have had cases where Mexico invades Finland. And numerous cases where Japan loses an island to invasion to a country like Ecador or Brazil.

12. Strategic Redeploment: I change the value from 25 in the USSR to 75. This does not eliminate death by strategic SR but it helps a lot. I also create the Siberian Railroad by creating a bunch of 100 level provs in the USSR.

13. I give additional resources/factories to CGX, CCU, POR, and a few other countries. Portugal had a lot of tungsten which made them popular with the UK and Germany during WW2. In southern China in CGX, they is significant raw materials. Especially metals. So I help CGX. With CCU I add an factory and some raw materials.

These are a few of my ideas. I'm sure I missed a few.
I would like to make the USA ai attack Italy before it invades France but I haven't figured this out just yet.
