Enclaves in places like Scandinavia, Italy, North Africa and the Balkans by countries such as GB, Spain and France, they're just annoying to see most of France being occupied because 3 quarters of their army is defending Anatolia
just tried playing as a European minor for the first time.
Cascading alliances and mega-ego peace offers. Yes this is broken, no I m not happy at all. I feel cheated. I thought this was well made game. Yet again, it feels like the community of strat gamers is so damn desperate to find something that is well made, that they really just cling to anything that offers even remote hope (pc gaming in general i guess).
how something like this could get past quality assurance is astounding.
I have +5% warscore, I offer 80% value in tribute. "they would not accept this offer". Why even have the damn system if it only works for 100% warscore*, and the rest is just meaningless. Its an illusion of game quality that simply isnt there. Sure, they still hace capacity for war, but that never stops them from giving other AIs good peace deals. Its just bad. Bias agaisnt the player is a big no-no in sandboxy strat games.
*thats being generous as while you can annex a whole country with 100%, you cant vasal them always.. what?!
edit : the actual situation :
playing venice. Notice my neighbor to the right, with the 2 gold provinces has ally with denmark ( waaaay away ), and some one-city nobody somewhere who isnt allied to others. I have twice his army size and he just left my trade league. Gold oppertunity right? Ok so hes in the HRE, but I m allied with austria, so they should have my back (also allied with savoy).
I attack on the CB of trade wars, with intention to nab his gold for 8 infamy. Denmark joins in against me, and brings in 1 vassal, and 3 allies. Bohemia joins in against me and brings in burgundy and a few others too. Savoy does nothing, and I if I try to Call to Arms, it says"impossible" for whatever reason. Austria joins in and takes a beating while I eat up my goldrich neighbor. I help a bit too vs austrias agressors so i rack up a bit of warscore. Austria gets a peace after getting clobbered and has to release Tirol as an independant nation. Tirol promptly attacks me as part of an alliance with bohemia. I get my gold provinces and peace out vs me neighbor and try to negotiate out of the war with the rest.
Nope.
I have a positive warscore, but cant get out of a single war even if I literally offer everything I can click on, which equals 80% peacevalue.
Well, some times the warscore is frustrating, but it wouldn't really be realistic if the AI would accept anny deal just because you happen to occupy a few provinces?
The frustrating part is how the AI acts very different towards you, and have a completely unrealistic view as to what is acceptible, although most of the time its just a waiting game untill the AI accepts what is reasonable.
You can not anex regardless just because you have 100% warscore, but you can "swallow bigger" if you have a mission alowing for less warscore to be spent, but again, you also have those for vassalising.
It would also be the Italian reconquest of some region that I don't know off the top of my head (or the Italian-Austrian Nationalist War.) It'd also be British Intervention.*Serbia is garanteed by Russia. Russia is allied with France.*
*Belgium is guaranteed by Great Britain and France. Great Britain is allied with Japan, Canada, New Zeland, Australia, South Africa and India.*
So, Russia joined because Serbia was attacked, France because it was allied with Russia, Great Britain and its colonies because Germany invaded neutral Belgium and Japan was allied with Great Britain. America later joined the fight because Germany attacked their shippings, Romania to try to get transylvania(which they did), The Ottomans to recover Greece and Albania, Bulgaria to recover what lost land in the second balkanic war. As for the italians...well the backstabbing bastard wanted to steal lands from von Hasburg and only got about half what they wanted, good for them
So, WW1 is actually 3 differents wars : German war of Agression, Autrian War of Honor and Ottomans reconquest of Greece using eu3 casus belli system
EDIT : It would actually be German reconquest of Luxemburg, my bad
Okay, I have a new one- the new mobile format of the forums. I can't switch pages without typing the page into Google.
another one :
why even have diplomacy if you cant bribe people (like paying for an alliance with someone bigger than you for protection), cant get people to cancel alliances with others (via bribes, threats or simply being more of an attractive alliance partner), or cant buy land, get them to give up cores etc etc
You can right click and you get ducats by the 100 and not 25.
Play Muscovy or Russia = crushed by Ottomans
Play Ottomans = crushed by Austria
Play France in early 1400s = crushed by England or Burgandy
Play Timurids = cannot stop the wars of aggression
Austrian HRE is way too powerful
