The game won't tell me when my provinces are being besieged, only when I've lost the seige. I've checked the appropriate message options and it still won't. Consequently, I wind up with a token force of 3 or 4 enemy regiments laying seige to mainland Britain while all my armies are busy on the continent, so I have to raise another army to deal with the interlopers.

Ummmhf. Game menu->Message Settings->War Tab->Fourth item on the list: "When the enemy lays siege on to one of our fortresses". Change that.

If I ran an image hosting site I wouldn't support BMP files either. Load it up in paint and save it in PNG or GIF format :)

also get that list up in the right corner. There is both your own sieges, and "Hostile Sieges" there. +plus nifty things like army list, with armys that are having attrition in red (like those that borded those ships, and you forgot because of another rebellion, war or something..

Perhaps a different solution would be to allow a country to continue fighting the war after the War-Leader peaces out?

So if, say, I am Brandenburg, and I get in a tussle with Poland because I have a core on a Polish territory (due to a Border Dispute or something) and I'm allied with Trollhemia, they would probably become the war leader, and might peace out before I can get my core. Ordinarily, I'd have to wait for five years to avoid a massive Stab hit for breaking a truce to get my cores. But if there were an option to continue the war, maybe with an infamy cost or a more token stab hit (or even only available if you have a CB against an enemy country) then I could stay in the war, and get my provinces.

This might especially help with the Muslim countries, since the DoF might be a (relatively) big country half the world away, being gobbled up by their neighbors. If Delhi WP's Castile, why should Morocco be forced to stop fighting?

I know this couldn't be modded, but perhaps it could be a nice addition to a patch, expansion or EU IV?

There should be some more complex mechanic for ending coalition wars, i agree.

Whenever a war-leader offers or is offered a peace-deal, it should be cleared with its allies. Allies get options to dis-/agree. Any nation disagreeing imposes a prestige hit on the war-leader and the option to continue the war, if the peace gets signed.

In a war of numbers against letters, A (war-leader), b and c are at war with 1 (war-leader), 2 and 3. If:
1 offers peace to A, the offer will first be sent to 2 and 3 for clearance (two-weeks to react, agreeing by default on expiration). The results get send back to 1 before 1 can proceed to send the offer to A. If any of 2 or 3 do not grant clearance and 1 sends the offer to A regardless, and A accepts, it will cause a 5 Prestige hit on 1 and grant the nation(s - 2 and/or 3) the option to continue the war. Once A receives the peace-offer by 1, it will be auto-forwarded to b and c, again asking for clearance. Only after the reactions of b and c are in (again, two weeks to react, but deny on default, this time) can A answer the offer of 1, again under the same consequences for any ally of his not granting clearance (5 prestige hit for each denying ally on accpeting the treaty).
Seperate peaces (´they are merely negotiating for themselves´ for both sides) do not need clearance.
Whenever an AI denies clearance, it should give hints, what it misses in the deal (or else, this will just be frustrating). Also, human players should at least be able to set some minimum value they want out of a peace, to give the AI war-leader a hint as what kind of deals you´d be willing to accept. Better still would be the option to open the peace-negotiation screen when the war is still going on to tell your war-leader what you want and the AI doing the same to you, when you are the warleader (´Austria imforms us, that it regards Acquire Silesia and Renounce Claims on Mazovia as adequate compensation for the efforts in our common war against Poland.´ - you should at least have one of the two in your peace-proposal, if you dont want to get the 5 prestige hit and austria possibly continuing to trounce Poland after you peaced out)

war and trade

I hate it when a country I cant get to, declares war on me. He cant get to me to attack and I cant get to him (yet) and we are at war somehow, sometimes I don't even know where the country is.. that is ridiculous, especially when I offer them a white peace and they reject it.
This all come from the cascading declarations of war. If I go to war with A, its logical that B will join.. but if C and myself have never met, then C should not join. Maybe C can make some kind of monetary contribution. If you cant send a diplomat or a soldier to my country, you cant war with me.

The Horde. If you are border to the horde, YOU ARE going to die, or wind up with a huge country.
It should be that if you won the last war with them (concede, or took a state, then they will wait 10 years before attacking you again. If you lost the last war with them, then they will attack in 5. That will give bordering countries some breathing space.

There should be a way to tell your vassals to convert to your religion or risk an invasion.

Trade: When a bigger country surrounds a smaller one.. how the hell does he trade? Smaller country is landlocked with mine!! That will force them to starvation, riots, rebellions, and finally submission. They should asked for permission to cross through my land (non military) or permission to trade in MY trade center, or asked to be a vassal, or even annexed.

If landlocked country is surrounded by me and my allies.. same rules should apply.

..Well, thats what you get for attacking friends of the big guy! :D ..but excomm isn't that bad. Unless you have a lot of infamy (above 10, or so) or are vulnerable (low army-strenght, no allies, no Vassals.)

..besides. Just be the Papal controller, then it doesn't happen to you.

Even better is to make sure you have papal relations at 200 before the war that way it shouldn't drop below 100 during the war unless its a long war, they make a great vassal ally as when you bring them into the war it increases the chance of your enemy been excommunicated

I have loads of things I hate but one that really annoys me is small nations warning big scary blobs, I just had ragusa warn me, they have 2k army V me(HAB) 120k, a 12k army was sitting on their border(suppressing revoltrisk), i'm just waiting for a CB

Playing as Ottomans I get the mission vassalize Karaman. After vassalized Karaman, new mission Annex Karaman (to annex at least 10 year has to pass!)

Better off not doing those missions on nations that you have cores on as it costs next to nothing in infamy to annex them outright and its a lot quicker, those incorporate missions are only really useful in the HRE

I despise the current mission system as the missions are often stupid and not really applicable to the current version of the game ie the burgundian/bohemian inheritance for HAB or even worse the pommerian succession for brandenburg

There should really be a pool of missions offering maybe one of each type which at least allows the player to choose instead of always having the same crap missions forced on you

Or some sort of choice : aka General direction, or Major Focus : like -as russia - "we want a port on each of the major seas, with landconnection to Capital (thats 5..)", and all missions should tie into, or at least not work against, that Major Focus..
On the other hand, you don't really need the missions at all..maybe a possibility to play without?

Lots of people don't like Horde wars, and I agree that the way they keep declaring war, even if you beat them to a pulp 5 years ago, is annoying. However, what makes the game nearly unplayable sometimes is when a completely overrun and occupied horde nation still declares war on you and you can never end the war until the AI nation that occupied them decides to pull out. Sit and watch your legitimacy drop and drop for 20 years or concede defeat to a defeated enemy. At the moment I (Muscowy) am at war with the Golden Horde, whose territory is completely occupied by the Ottomans - yet somehow from his prison cell in Istanbul the Khan can raise zombie soldiers to attack me and I can never end the war because they refuse to concede defeat!

Why would your legitimacy be dropping? Horde wars don't remove the "at-peace" war exhaustion modifier so you have to either have a horrible leader or be pretty careless to generate war exhaustion in the circumstances you describe. Once you take a province the ai will most likely accept a concede defeat so use spies to incite revolts then move in after they free a province.

Hmm, must have made a wrong assumption. It does still interfere with things like offering vassalisation or selling provinces though, and you can't get rid of it. I've recently seen the OE colonise the final Golden Horde province, much to my relief. It seems weird to be relieved to be next door to the Ottomans.

Not sure if anyone has already said this but not being able to add a general to your army just becasue you're attacking a city. I can't think of a logical reason why you can't - surely the general would rock up and just add to the sieging army.

AI bias in alliances annoys me most. I may be the largest and most powerful nation on Earth yet the second-most-powerful refuses to join my flock even with 200 relations and RM. Yet AI itself always manages to ally themselves with the big players - everyone wants to hang out with Austria.

Maybe he has no Royal Marriages? -they give a nice bonus to legitimacy..
