I did the same with the Hoi 3 game and waited until the 1.3 $7.99 sell out before I bought it and apparently enough of us did that for it to have an effect on how Vicky2 will be handled.
Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong
To be quite frank it was nothing to do with people buying HoI3 at $7.99, in fact those people in no way influnced our decisions regarding Victoria 2. It was the people who bought HoI3 at full price, our most important and valuable customers, the ones we actually care about that mattered.

That's right!
Uh-huh!
I'm the winner!
I believe I'm owned a bit of "neener neener" right now.
I rule! That's right! I'm awesome!

Wrong, wrong, wrong.
To be quite frank, it has everything to do with Hoi3, which was released in a ... Well, you know how it was released. It has everything to do with the 8 months that had to pass until 1.3 came around and made the game playable (and I say playable, but way far from being good. 1.4 was probably one step forward, two backwards).
If people that bought HoI3 at full price, or any other game for that matter, were your most important and valued customers, PI should never ever ever ever ever ever release a game in a condition HoI3 was.
My apologies, I know arguing with PI's devs is not allowed in this forum, but I felt compelled to refute such a limited argument, and at the same time express the frustration of many of your (once loyal) customers. I hope (for PI's sake) this is helpful for you as a company when it comes to planning your future strategy. Again, my apologies.
Really you are not allowed to argue with devs on this forum? No one told me. If you have legitimate complaints bring them, we do listen. If you want to insult, shit talk or complain about moderation you won't be long for this forum to be quite frank.
Look do you think, we as devs really liked to see what people were saying about HoI3 at release? Do you think we were satisified do you think we thinking mission accomplished? We saw people with registered games with legitimate complaints (some were illegitimate, but let's not go there). We did 4 patches, one more than we planned for or budgeted for to do what we could to remedy this. Now you can disagree on if you think this is enough, but we didn't just simply abandon the game. Now I suppose we could just released a stand alone expansion by now, instead of patching.
What I think you have to realise is this, if we didn't release HoI3 there would of been no Paradox Interactive. We are not a rich company that can indefinately delay development. We sooner or later reach a point were we must ship and be damned. What we can do is learn lessons from releases that did not go smoothly and try to avoid this in the future.
No offence intended, but if you are usually not buying games, because of your short attention span, do you really think HoI3, out of all games in the world, was the right choice for you, anyways?

Arguing with the developers has never been a problem as far as i can recall, its common that people here have discussions / arguments with Johan, King, etc. Arguing moderator decisions on the other hand (which all the devs are AFAIK), is not allowed. While it can sometimes be a bit difficult to separate the two, its mostly very straightforward. My apologies, I know arguing with PI's devs is not allowed in this forum

I have no idea on that to be honest. There is atleast one more game on the current engine. After that, well I don't make those kinds of decisions. As a designer you always want a new engine that way you can design more cool stuff.

One more game considering Vicky 2 or one more game after Vicky 2?![]()

I don't know why, but the last part made me chuckle...
...and I'll let you guys back on topic then.
