What are the scale equivalents used in this game?

I couldn't find a thread about this - didn't look hard though.

What do the squares relate too? Biggest zone to zoomed in grid.

I believe the smallest squares are 8x8m. Each square in the zoomed out map is 2x2km

On an empty map those 2x2KM squares seem small for 2x2km to me. That's what you get for not having visual cues right?
