It's not OP considering how easy prestige is to continually gain
Just walking around in a war insta-gibbing tiny stacks can max you out in no time
And there are combos like previously mentioned that can maintain you at 100 with all decay out-paced
Makes any event where a choice is prestige loss pretty much no decision at all

And then the mission thing keeps wanting to give me crappy missions for +3 prestige. Yea, sure, I'll build 30 heavy ships I can't afford or I'll conquer Italy with a claim or CB so I can earn the prestige I'd get in one or two battles in a more useful war. woopee!

Yea, the decay should be exponential or something; remove the 100 cap and extend the benefits linearly but make the decay hit exponentially harder, not simply as a percentage of current prestige

Technically, it already is an exponential decay. I'd rather they do some combination of increasing the base decay rate, decreasing Prestige gains, and/or increasing the cap, possibly increasing the maximum benefits to compensate.

Well, okay, but it's a constant percentage of whatever your current prestige is. And I think that percentage should increase.... so like, uh, comparing velocity vs. acceleration. We need to go one exponent higher! And let the benefits extend higher while removing the cap. So if you really have +10 prestige a month maybe you can just baaaaaaaarely reach 175 neutral point

That other things are OP doesn't mean that this isn't also OP :)

Actually I'd argue that this is one of the most OP prestige features. At least when you're killing tiny stacks you have to be at war, which has costs/risks associated. And wiping out the enemy should give prestige - you killed enemy troops. That the enemy left little units around for you to murder isn't your problem, it's theirs.

I've not seen the combos but yeah that sounds like it should be nerfed if it allows you to outpace all decay for appreciable periods of time.

I can see that TI exploring should give something, but I think 0.1 per province would be generous enough. And it's doubly a problem as the AI doesn't seem to know about it at all, so it can't compete. I've seen plenty of AI nations with tiny or even negative prestige, but they have ships and they have explorers.

Yeah I hate those +X prestige missions. I ignore them completely, except sometimes they are 2 or I think even 3 of my available 3, so I have to do one or two to get something new showing up.

If it's a constant % then that's not exponential at all, is it? That's linear. It's only exponential if it's 1% at X prestige and 10% at X*2 prestige, or similar. No?

A linear decay would be a constant amount per unit of time(i.e., -.1 prestige per year whatever your current prestige is). An exponential decay is a constant percentage per unit of time.

Byzantium is absurdly easy to keep prestige up. At 100 prestige, you should still be getting +1-2 a year.

Religious ideas + NI + Jerusalem + Mecca + Rome is absurd amounts of missionaries and prestige.

That's great, thanks, but how did you find it? I searched for prestige in the wiki and (instead of a list of references) all I got was a page about Prestige.

There is obviously a lot of information hidden in the wiki that I don't know how to find - so frustrating!
That info is now included on the prestige page.

Is there any chance of adding a site map (Table of Contents) page on the wiki so people can find anything that is there without having to search through pages for links?
Easier said than done to make a good map. The front page points to the most commonly visited pages, but can't really cover everything. There's also the category tree, but that's not perfect.

Not really that much I find. I do it with shift-click route-setting. For TI exploration I normally have a couple of single-ship stacks, one in the East and one in the West. Once they're at 100% at my furthest port (either core, or often Fleet Based foreign nation), I right-click them out to some area of white TI that I consider to be safe to reach and return before attrition kills them, then I shift click them a couple of other nearby places such as to go in a circle clearing up TI, then shift click them back to base. I have a popup for when TI is discovered so I keep track of their progress. Every few game months I go check if they're home, and rinse and repeat. No more than a minute spent, twice a game-year at most.

I was doing that anyway just to open up TI and scan for new nations and colonial possibilities. Now I know about the prestige bonus I can't imagine ever dropping below 100 Prestige again, so I do think it's a bit OP. Unlike for example warfare, there's almost no risk or downside to doing this, and equally little or no skill or thought required. That's what makes it more OP, in my view, than other prestige-giving mechanics.

As a general rule, I think any game mechanic that encourages micro-management and menial clicking should be modified where possible. Like the dreaded Papacy / Curia :) (which to be fair is a much bigger menial-clicking-time-sink than exploring.)
