+2 yearly gain from the philosopher (administrative advisor)
Advantageous peace deals
Exploring terra incognita
Controlling cardinals
Random events
Religious Tradition (Religious idea group): Yearly prestige increase of +1
If Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire: Emperor-specific events
Provinces joining the Empire: Enlarging the Empire naturally enhances the prestige and power of the Emperor.
Successive Emperors from the same country: Establishing a dynastic hold on the Empire will boost the prestige
Exploring Terra Incognita does tend to keep your prestige maxed if you manage it right.
Every now and then I get a Prestige +1 TI discovery. Do you know what triggers this, or what territory is prestige-giving and which isn't? I assume that certain provinces are just hardcoded as giving prestige, but is there any pattern that you know of?

all terra incognita you explore gives you 1 prestige
Don't they all give prestige?
I think discovering a province first (nobody else knows about it) is when you earn prestige. Certainly most of my prestige finds are wasteland (and lakes) that are completely encompassed by my territory and thus nobody else has any way to know that they exist
I have never had that message, and I do get 1 prestige per discovered province. Are you sure it's not a mod ? Or maybe a message setting ?Not according to the popup I get. Most just say "You discovered XYZ for the glory of our nation." Sometimes, like maybe 1 in 20 times, it has a "+1 Prestige" at the bottom of that.

Send an explorer/conq into TI and you'll expose plenty of TI which will all be logged in the Log, which you won't get prestige for.

Prestige is (still) way too easy to cap out. Everyone can get Religious Ideas and the Glorious Monument unique building for +2 Prestige per year, which alone will maintain Prestige at 40 without other intervention. Then you just need 3 more Prestige per year to stay at 100, or 2 with Innovative Ideas.
