I'd say Trebizond when you're declared by QQ as my own hardest victory. But that was when mercs costed half as much, so I don't think I could do it again on this patch.
There is no real answer though. I mean, there are so many possibilities.

As to the OP, I'd personally add Mogolia's independence war from Oriat if you're going for Great Khan with them instead of Great Horde. Most of the times I've attempted it, Oriat gets 2-3 allies before I can convince even one other nation to support my independence, so either I have to hope I can divide and conquer, or try using my Tribal estate to get a 15+ army asap to declare war on Dec. 12 before he gets any allies... Though if you pull that off, hordes being hordes it's pretty easy to snowball after that.

That war is mega easy, the Ming ruler is Naive enthusiast which means he gets +30 for support independence. With Ming all of Oirats allies won't matter. To get Ming before Ming declares a force tributary war on someone there's 2 strategies, either remove all your cores from Ming's land or change syncretic faith to confucian. I find the first one better (really the 3 cores on useless low dev land won't help you, and it hurts prestige less than changing the sync faith). Get independence, don't let the war drag on too long, time is precious, so if Oirat allies the Timurids you won't be able to take much land. But get a border with Chagatai if possible. Ask to be tributary immediately, so Ming doesn't warn you

The reason why time is important is because you need feudalism and the place to get it is Yeren. You want to conclude the war before Yeren has tech 4, as fighting tech 3 vs 4 is really a bad idea, therefore be quick with Oirat and Buryatia. From there snake your way through the hordes into India and the Great Horde. Astrakhan is a good first european capital.

Granada can see Ming at day 1. With MoH you can become a tributary and expand freely without having to worry about Castile declaring.
Oh. That's lame. I don't have MoH so that explains why some things are not that easy :p

Have anyone managed to succeed an independence war with Sukhothai?
I bet you can do it if you restart until Dai Viet and Lan Na both rival Ayutthaya and support you, right?

Edit: Oh right, Ming. Well, disable MoH ^^. I guess you can cheese it even with MoH by giving Dai Viet provinces to Ming, they sometimes want them. But well...

It's pretty much dominated by Ottoman region minors.

Albania v Ottomans and Candar v Ottomans are probobly the hardest. Albania is weaker but at least has mountains and Skanderbeg. Candar is just flat-out screwed.

Candar vs Ottomans is easy. No matter who they DoW it won't be you and you can finish your siege before they do. Slightly RNG dependent.

Meanwhile you can siege down everything east of Ankara for free WS, WE and 'occupied and besieged provinces'.

Not to mention that you can pick up quite a few allies if Ottos sit it out, then DoW with promise of land and break your promise.

And as with any nation that's going to war against the Ottomans: If you win the first war you've won the game. You're going to end up playing an Ottoman Empire imposter with slightly less ideal NIs. Easy mode.

Really confusing why you don't see more people picking up Turkish Delight, but I guess they're being deterred and don't even bother trying.

DoW with Mamluks
Complete collapse in 1489

Ottos are only difficult if they get their cores back. Without them they're a breeze in the wind as long as you're sitting in their eastern half. West has a bit more trouble.

Was just curious if anyone else had managed to beat the Ayutthaya and Ming. :p

You ally someone like Morocco, declare on another Tunisian minor, let Tunis declare on the minor, then vassal it.

You become war leader of a defensive war. You can call your allies, as can the attacker...if any are willing to join an offensive war in this scenario (usually no). This concept can also be applied to vassaling nations that a non-tributary attacks to call in Ming if you are a tributary, and if you're not careful it can work against you on rare occasions.
This is what I meant I find this thread difficult, because there are nearly no wars that need to be that difficult as they could be. You just gave an example to this.

Navarra isn't that hard of a start. I did it last week, and you can immediately join Lubeck s trade league, and with a bit of persuasion France allies you. Attack England and reap the favors to demolish Castile.

Mogadishu is easy enough to become independent with Marehan and Warsangali begging to support you. Just don't wait, because Ethiopia likes eating these guys really early... The hard part of Mogadishu is once you're independent and stuck between Ethiopia and Kilwa, who don't give you time to get enough tech to go for Socotra or colonisation. The only way out I found was no-cbing the Maldives.

Well, there are some nations that are doomed and there is absolutely no way to avoid your destiny. Tabarestan is the best example. Timurids have a casus belli against you and if they choose to rush on you first you have nothing to do. There is not enough time to get allies. However if they get involved in Indian wars and they explode to rebels it's another history.

Novgorod is another one that is doomed. If Muscovy gets "annex Novgorod" mission on december they declare war on you instantly. Two months later Denmark get "danish trade" so there is no hope. And you can't win a war against Muscovy + five vassals.

As Albania is quite easy to survive. Just join the biggest trade league if you can and with your golden general you can win against anyone before mil4. I have seen the Ottomans underestimating the power of a 8-9 members league and got cut into pieces in 1447. Was funny to see an AI renewed byzantium with all of their cores.

Just a headsup, @DDRJake confirmed that he personally wants to make sure that strategy gets killed in one of his recent Golden Horde streams. So if you want to restore Al-Andalus without beta patches.. do it now.
