I don't, but something minor like this (yes minor, since the papacy will never be playable) should be a patch imo. I really don't want to pay for every small improvement to the game. Good DLCs/Xpacs like Sword of Islam, or to mention another game, Victoria 2 - A House Devided i'll gladly pay for.
I'm on your site. This should be in a fre patch alongside the "Playable Theocracy" DLC. This would be the best option, I think.
Before the Catholic reformation and the later religious wars and protestant reformations, religious institutions weren't filled with the most "moral" men... there was a period when the papacy moved to Avignon and subsequently there where not one, nor two but three popes, one supported by the French, other by the HRE and another one propossed by the Pappal States... This were the times of the Borgias.
No one ever said anything about the morality of the pope, but the fact that the game randomly generates underaged, inbred, lunatic imbecillic popes with mortal diseases, (none of this doing with morality, but would still more or less disqualify them from a church career, much less the papacy), is just silly.

There's also a number of popes which should have traits like wroth, cruel, etc. The throne of Saint Peter didn't only have sexual perverts on it
The Pisan pope episode was about 80 years before the election of Rodrigo Borgia, that said most of the renaissance popes were of that type anyway.
I'd buy a proper Papacy/The Church DLC in a heartbeat if it includes Cardinals and stops the random characters from becoming Pope or (arch)bishops. Catholic dynasties should be getting their third etc. sons in these positions so we'll get a Cardinal who has a sibling who is Duke of Saxony, and eventually this guy should be able to become a Pope, instead of the Pope being a 20 year old with no family.

But why should it work, to make it only for some people? It's too important to make it only for some people. And it's only ONE function. A whole DLC for one change? And how I have say... It would work well in a free patch together with a "playable Theocracies" DLC.

Its a lot of work, though, and they've already included quite a bit of their work meant for expansions in the base game. But it might be reasonable if this change came with the Holy Orders DLC.
Simply put an 18-20 year old good bishop (antipope) into his position if you like this one bishop so your current ruler gets a + because of the forced claim.

About 30% of my popes end up being homosexual, bearing a bastard child, and hilariously once being possessed for most of his reign. Yeah i'd say its safe to say we need a Catholic/HRE DLC next.
While a free patch would be nice, a DLC would be better. as a free patch would a small amount of fixes, a couple token events and succession mechanic.
But for the three dozen events and half a dozen event chains, decisions, etc and a succession mechanic which is whats desired, DLC is the only credible expectation given the current model.
Eeeh... I have say it about... It's only for the pope, not for the player. And why should it work? If you haven't the DLC you will have inbred, random popes, and if you have the DLC you will have a nice system for the pope? And ALL events and decesions was in the patch. All SoI, SI and LoR events and decisions are in the free patch. But you would only see them with the DLC. Also the turkish succession is in the free pach and moddable. The Papal election should also be in the patch an modabble.
What the DLC will add is, obviously, the possibility of getting a cardinal to vote for the inbred, violent pervert of your choice! It shouldn't be too hard to fill a small college of cardinals considering there were, at the time, only 24 including the 6 suburbicarian bishops (who were, at the time, almost always Romans - even for the cardinal priests and deacons; it's only in the 16th century that the practice of foreign monarchs appointing their own cardinal protectors really cements itself).

I'm not sure where the hate for the free patch alongside the DLC is coming from; SOI was roughly this, with the Muslim decadence system which didn't exist in vanilla launch. So a lot of work went into the DLC, which would be "invisible" to the player unless he bought the DLC, but would still function in order to allow for people with and w/out the DLC to play each other and have a community instead of a schism between the DLC and Not-DLC Churches.
People we have a Republic expansion coming. ZERO reason to not include other stuff. Heir to the Throne was about better dinasties in EU III and that didn´t stop Paradox from also greatly improving HRE mechanics in the same package. Without making a specific DLC ONLY about HRE.
So I suggest some people here stop saying rubbish about putting every single little improvement in DLCs instead of patches or expansions. It´s simply not right for Paradox to do it.
