What are the 'After Action Reports'?

I know this is a stupid question but I can't really find a post explaining what they are and I would rather not take a wild guess and getting the 'AAR' thing all wrong.

It's where someone roleplays and writes a bunch of words on what he did in the last game.
The "roleplay" part is that instead of saying "i spammed loads of infantry" you say "i woke up this morning as commander of the spam brigade and then spammed a load of infantry".

I've never properly understood why people like to read them, but then i don't understand why people like watching other people play games they could be playing themselves anyway...

Roleplaying is just one type of AAR.. There's plenty where people say exactly what they did. There's also interactive AARs..

So I was right in my guess, I just wanted to make sure.

Now to make a AAR about Sindh that will include its historical history (1600 to 1836 through a good book I have found and other sources, and a book I may buy as the other book is just a preview) and the choices I make from 1836 to 1935 (unless I mod the game to expand it past 1935).

If you do that, be careful, because the economy will start to go crazy. The game is designed with things ending in '35.

Not always a roleplay... Ok well roleplay as someone of that period. Others like to write it as if it was a documentary of the events that happened to that country. Like the hitler channel having a special of history of America.
