1) AI: In HoI2 I at least saw a half way serious war in the pacific - not in HoI3. The AI still fails on strategic and tactical level, big time. Question is: Why? I am rather content with theatre HQ behaviour: As long as it is no multiple front war and no islands are involved, it does an okay job. So my guess why the AI seems to fail so bad: it is even worse on production and research. And given that your army composition is much, much more important in HoI3 than anything else, this basicly allows you to steamroll any AI once you have an idea which units and techs are important.
2) Modability: Honestly, whenever I look at HoI3 and compare it's modability to EU3, I cry. There are so few commands I can use and so much stuff that is hardcoded... I mean, fcs, I can't even fix the ministers to give them HoI2 like traits, because the game doesn't have any modifiers I can use! Same for the leaders. And the policies. And the techs.. And... And... *starts sobbing*
3) Performance: Finally, I have a high end computer and HoI3 runs okay. Not as great you would expect with all these ressources available, but well, I can bear it. However on my old machine it was just painful and close to unplayable. During the first two years it was bearable, but then - oh my... The UI was so slow, every button clicked would result in a 2-10 sec freeze, the UI GFX was popping up one after another and a single month took about 10-15 minutes on max speed. Basicly I had to arrange my whole build quenue for the war until 1938, because moving one item five rows upwards would take more than half of a minute. Changing a leader took 15-30 seconds. Adding a unit to a hierachy at least 10-15. And my old computer was still above the recommended specs! If I didn't have my new machine, this would have made it to #1, that's for sure...
