But it'd be sensible, design-wise. Making Democracy have its own strengths would make reforming a dictatorship, an interesting RP choice, also a viable strategic choice.
I Also think they should add some industrial / trade bonuses for democracies.

Never in the history of mankind has any 'dictatorship' voluntarily shifted towards democracy during wartime. There should be no benefits in doing so at a peak of war. Only if cold war expansions were added in should democracies start to show their strength. But it'd be sensible, design-wise. War economies are by definition different from free market economies, a democracy or not yields no advantages when its a war economy either way.Democracies (or rather, free market economies) tend to have stronger economies than planned economy states, at least that could be reflected with the industry system somehow.

Don't you think they should exist for gameplay reasons? So basically being democratic in HOI's timeline has no advantages.
Free market law make your industry more productive, easier to build infrastructure and make your research alot more efficient, the disadvantage is that you have to sell away alot for you home produced resources but if you control the seas you can just trade for the needed resources and keep the free market advantages.

It will give them significant advantages atleast as they can trade with each other which more or less make free trade a very strong choice. So you think that better relations with allies will balance democracies in HOI4, right?
Emmm, its a simulation game, so gameplay mechanics are meant to mimic reality.Don't you think they should exist for gameplay reasons?
You know... It means democracy is just a punishment in HOI![]()
The most productive countries in WW2 was UK and USA and both was democracies.
No. Why should they?
Because democracies have some doubtful restrictions such as puppet-rule. The western Germany was a puppet in fact, at least just after war.
Did UK and the USA expand democratic powers during WW2, or did they give more executive power to their top leader with declarations of state of emergencies?I always found it a shame that any law related to freedom & democracy in the game was virtually always a burden with negative attributes considering that the worlds leading powers by and large have free and open societies as are their economies. The opposite of which is highly rewarded in HOI.
