To be clear: every playable ideology has it's benefits, which could be the reason for switching your own ideology.
Commies have their puppets, fascists have fabrication bonuses, but why could I shift to democracy?

Excluding roleplay reasons, of course :)

If there is no such reasons then democracy in HOI4 going to be like Catholicism in EU IV - just deadborn religion everyone want to change.

Edit:

Seems like some guys don't understand the question. More precisely:
I'm trying to find some reasons to *become* a democracy in game without feeling that I'm limiting myself for no reason without any advantages.
Roleplay is one side, but there is another. If you play, say, multiplayer game and you really want to defeat your opponent you will never ever think of converting to democracy and it's sad for me.

It feels like cutting off some part of the game which you want to enjoy but you're realist and never will do such a decision.
Like in EU IV I delete half of my army simulating their vacation for roleplay reasons.

Thanks a lot for your answers, guys :)
I really want someone from Paradox to reply here and explain or draw some attention at least.

There's only two reasons as far as I know: Democracies can't declare wars on other democracies (perhaps excluding some special circumstances like Factions and Guarantees?) so you've got less potential enemies. The other is that a large amount of important countries are democracies, making it easier to build up a powerful faction.

I wish it had some real power too, to balance its limitations.

Well, the election mechanic might be an advantage, but we curtently do not know very much about that.

You should have a better diplomatic situation as a democracy,as more people like you,but that is the only good thing I see at the moment.

Since only very little countries are self sustainable in regards to the resources that they need to fuel their war industry, it helps to be aligned to the factions that is in control of the sea lanes of communications and has access to most of the resources, initially.

The election mechanic is not 100% exclusive to democracies though. The Horthy government of Hungary has that too. In earlier DDs the devs teased "coalition governments" which apparently are democratic alliances with Fascist / Communist parties for unique benefits and penalties.

If the coalition system is in, it would make democracies potentially a very good choice for a flexible diplomacy game. Soviets winning? Support the Social Democrats, befriend Soviets. Tide turns? Support the Falangs, befriend Nazis.

There's nothing that says the ideologies need to be balanced or give gameplay advantages. It's World War 2, it's not a particularly democratic time, even if you happen to live in the UK or USA.

As far as I know focus tree is not dependent on nation ideology...

That's correct, but only Non-Aligned and Democratic countries can pick the Liberty Ethos branch. Not sure if it's any better than the Collectivist ethos part.

I don't think democracy as a government form should get any benefits, democracies already have the strongest starting position. Also, in real life, democratic powers are always curtailed during times of war, never expanded.

There's nothing that says the ideologies need to be balanced or give gameplay advantages.

But it'd be sensible, design-wise. Making Democracy have its own strengths would make reforming a dictatorship, an interesting RP choice, also a viable strategic choice.

But communist and fascist give that advantages at the moment :)
Because these government forms have been really successful relative to their starting position. If the USA was a military dictatorship it may have crushed Japan in a decisive sneak attack, because it was a democracy it had to pander to isolationists and wait till Pearl Harbour.

Democracies (or rather, free market economies) tend to have stronger economies than planned economy states, at least that could be reflected with the industry system somehow.
