I'm going to try the edit tonight. Wish me luck.
Good success so far. Playing a game tweaked to all but maximize the chances of prov. conversion*, I've converted nine provinces in 100 years.
* Playing as the Duke of Toulouse, but with mongol culture because it's easy to track prov. cultural changes and because of the ridiculous demense bonus (to make sure
EvilDave's correction works). I started with Toulouse and Montpelier in my demense and set to Mongol culture.
I've avoided building the religious buildings (except the Monasteries, for the production & piety bonuses), and kept the population power figues at P: 11-15; B: 36-40; C: 11-15 & N: 36-40.
As I added territory & shuffled vassals, the counties flipped in the following order: Provence, Narbonne, Carcassone (all from Montpelier), Venaissin , Rosello (fr. Narbonne), Empuries (fr. Rosello), Barcelona (fr. Empuries), Cadiz (fr. Provence), Valencia (fr. Cadiz), Genoa (fr. Valencia).
As I pick up more territory and better tech, the rate of conversion should increase exponentially. I'm hoping to flip the whole world to Mongol by the end of the game. Wish me luck.
