Well, I think I've found the reason why the conversion event doesn't work as it should:

I think it can be replaced with

condition = { type = or
condition = { type = same_realm }
condition = { type = same_ruler }
}

However, I'm a bit concerned that there's something wrong with the logic for same_realm for all spread events within the same demesne, so it may be broken in the tech spread events as well. So, it wouldn't be possible to get both the 0.3 factor for same_ruler and the 0.5 factor for same_realm at the same time.

I'll try that, but I assume it'll work since Byakhiam said the same thing in the bug report I posted. I knew I shouldn't have wasted those three hours last night trying to figure it out on my own :wacko: :rofl:

And you're probably correct about the tech spread modifiers not working either.

It spreads the culture of a province, not the culture of a character.

Like Veldmaarschalk says it's the province culture that spreads. The main condition for it to do so however is that the realm ruler(the King, or independent Duke/Count) has the same culture.

In EUII, culture affects both province income and revolt risk. So naturally, you would want as many of your provinces to have one of your state cultures.

That I don't know. I've never converted a game to EUII and I haven't payed much attention to EUIII development.

AFAIK only province cultures are converted, so the culture of your king in this case doesn't matter.

Since we don't know much about the culture system in EUIII it is impossible to say what the differences are in that area between EUII and EUIII, everything that has been said on the EUIII forum about culture, is speculation from forum-members.

The only thing we do know is that EUIII problably has much more cultures then EUII, since the last screenshot showed the culture 'Lowland Scottish'

But since I doubt that the official converter will work for CK-EUIII, the EUIII culture thing isn't important.

Depends on what converter you use... With KoM's superior converter, it's calculated according to the culture of your provinces, according to their wealth... and eventually the ruler's culture can become state culture but only if enough provinces have the same culture.
I have no idea how it works for the in-game converter.

Ive done the changes but now I get an error message when loading a game (new or saved). I have the option to ignore it and still load. Is this ok or did I miss something?
