You don't. They are pretty much only there to let men marry them and have babies.
Or under Egyptian law she can be a Pharaoh. But that's dangerous as it can be hard for her to remain popular without the possibility to wage war.
-> women cannot become generals in the game.

Unless you mod it like I have.

But then you have to balance it to make sure they don't wind up with equal rights.

I had one woman whack my royal heir, so the ladies do dabble in politics. Her son was the prior crown prince, so she decided to restore that status. She failed to realize that I had more than one son. I was in a good mood that day and exiled her along with her innocent spouse. Her now grownup boy is still the pretender, but he is such an excellent general and so very loyal that I keep him on staff.

That´s the way it was :D.
I am glad they changed this. I have no (serious) problem with women in power nowadays. But I do not like how some historical strategy games or merchant simulations tend to rewrite history .

That's what he's saying; he's glad that Paradox didn't try to give women 'equal rights' in the game out of political correctness, but instead preferred to give them no more power than they had in history.

Ohh... I thought that he was implying that Paradox originally allow women to take command in Rome.

I still feel the women rulers should be allowed to take command of armies. Admitted we only have a few historical cases of this, but it did happen, and it would improve the playability of egyptian succession a lot.

Support the military AKA what about the women in VV?

As with every other faction:
Try to appoint as many members of the MF as you can to the five research posts and to censors (senate influence)
Assign 'easy' missions to MF legates (destroy barbarian hordes) and navy prefects (chase pirates) and give them triumphs when you can (popularity), specially to those with high charisma.
When a plausible candidate appears among the three posible next consuls, you can try to get rid of the rivals by smearing their reputations, imprisoning them or seeing that they suffer an accident (murder is a too strong word)

As for general MF senate influence:

But there are some things that can't be modded to be gender neutral; things like succession and faction leadership.

I agree that women shouldn't be given "equal rights" in the game, but then women did often held significant power behind the scenes. It's unfortunate that none of this behind-the-scene stuff is a factor ingame.

Also to make egyptian succession playable, there must be more ways of boosting popularity without triumphs.

Now your talking,
Imagine the scenario....Powerful woman who actually influence the actions of their husbands/sons and hatch dastardly plans, some of which may just bring the whole country to its knees.
Thats a damn site better then my unhistoric idea of "give her a job"
I wish I could mod better :(

Yeah... and then there was all this classical incestuous fun -- Rome, Egypt and elsewhere. I wonder if they left this out for political correctness?

I think a good modding project would be a slew of bad events that occur when an ambitious/high charisma woman is friends with the ruler of a country, some of which would be your stereotypical "king listens to woman, and his kingdom crumbles" trope, and others of which would be various officials (and the king's wife!) reacting against such a woman regardless of whether or not she fits the stereotype. And more events about high ambition/influence wives acting on behalf of or through their husbands.

I feel a little sad inside when I see a high-stat, high-prominence, high-ambition woman fade to obscurity simply because the game doesn't give her the tools that might have historically been at her disposal. For example, playing a Pontus I once had a really awesome female heir for the longest time until my king's third wife finally popped out a son. The former heir-apparent princess had all of the typical makings of your deposed but ambitious heir, and even married a guy who would become an important official in my court. It would have been really cool if she had (through her husband) ignited a civil war, or maybe assassinated her (incompetent, much younger) half-brother. Instead, she sat with 0% loyalty and high ambition for nearly eight decades, never amounting to anything.

I haven't tested this yet but what about bribing the women?
Some women have the icon light up.

Bribe those that have object; have a son / get married.

More wealth makes them more attractive foe men to marry.

More marriages, more chance for sons.

Sounds good, but it should also be balanced by "good" events from powerful women. In history, women often played the role of kingmakers. The power and influence they held usually derived from the fact that they helped put the big dude in power.

I think a better way to simulate all this is perhaps to make the husband-wife or mother-son combo more of a single unit -- they wife/mom's ability can augment the husband somewhat, but any negative traits will affect both. Or something like that anyway.

Basically, women's political ability, in both administration, intrigue and maintaining popularity, should help their husbands' and sons significantly. But their disloyalty would also pose a significant threat above and beyond a rebellious general.
