When HOI IV was introduced it was mentioned that Paradox wanted to include all the good things again that were missing in HOI III compared to HOI II.
Yesterday I was watching the World War Wednesday Stream and all looked pretty good exept for the technology.
This is really not deep enough for a paradox game folks, just having xy research slots and no real country specific modifiers apart from them would be very unfortunate.
The tech team and skill system from HOI II gave a very unique experience researching and focusing your technology with every nation you played.
I really hope this won't get left out again. It was one of the best flavour features missing in HOI III.
I hope you hear this and the community supports me in this.
If this hole system was by chance left out in the version Daniel and Jake played there, then I'll take everything back but it didn't seem like it.

Cheers

Yeah that would be nice but it kind of is in the game. Each tank will take x amount of days or aircraft, keep in mind each nation has different aircraft or tanks and each takes longer or shorter depending on the technology put into it in real life. Take the Tiger for example, it has interlacing tracks so it will take longer then the IS-1 because it is more complicated. But it is the Generic weapons that all nations share that can take some modifications which I agree on because we don't want this to turn out like EU4 where a 1 province minor has 4 4 4 tech before a major even touches 100 adm, mil, or dip power (I compared it to this because what if Albania has weapons 3 before any other country, it just wouldn't make sense).

There is country specific modifiers in the focus trees, they lower research time or ahead of time penalties for certain techs.

I believe they built this functionality into the game by having the armor variant and upgrade systems. I suspect the pulled the company name thing, but all the customization options that would have derived from the system are all in place.

I did forget those companies. Thanks for pointing that out. Does anyone remember which diary that was?
Also I don't remember that companies were chosen at World War Wednesday. Still not convinced that they offer as much variety as I'd like.
Its true that different countries used different technologies but technically you should be able to invent the T34 as Germany.
We're also lacking a bit information here, as I believe the diaries of tech are from a long time ago. Maybe they changed something there.

Yep, I agree that it was really cool. However, I think there's something quite similir in the politic panel (Where you can change your laws, etc..) but it's still less complex that in HoI 2.. :/
