The use of internal minigames is quite widespread in video games of even different genres - think of dice or Gwent in The Witcher series or motorcycle racing in Final Fantasy VII or in Bioware's KOTOR series.
In CK3, the conduct of battles is quite passive: each army can count on the number, on the statistics deriving from the type of unit and terrain and on a series of bonuses/maluses. We cannot influence the outcome of the battle in almost any way. To make everything more interesting and engaging, a chess-like minigame could be introduced to directly command our units in battle.
