Hi everyone!

I decided to try the new expansion with a more eastern game to what I'm used to...

I started playing Timurids and became Mughal Empire after 100 years or so of rule...

Now I have expanded somewhat towards the Mediterranean with the idea of getting a "latin" neighbor and westernize my nation with the intention of mopping the floor of my eastern rivals... (my western ones are to big and powerful, wars are to long and you take very little...).

However, the Westernize decision still doesn't show in my countries decisions, even though I captured Libya recently which has a frontier with Britanny (that's weird enough as it is...). Said province is not connected by land to it's motherland, and neither is my province there connected to mine... (I'm allied with the Mamluks, I went through their provinces to take that one).

What am I missing to get at least the option of the decision showing up... even If I don't comply with all the requirements...?

This is rather strange. Infact you need a western or eastern neighbour (eastern only if you're playing HTTT, western for IN, NA & vanilla). Brittany is western, so it should show up.
The only reason that i can figure is that you have formed Mughal Empire in the same game session. You need to save and quit the game. Then when you restart you should see the option. This is the same for vassals: after you have formed a nation by decision (Italy, Prussia, Ireland...) you need to save and quit before you can demand the annexation.

No, but that can get you the "Western arms trade" triggered modifier, which gives a boost to land tech investment.

The decision to move from Muslim to Oriental tech doesn't show up properly in the initial release of HttT. I don't know about the new beta patch, as I haven't played it.

Just having the neighbor is supposed to make the decision show. Currently though, it checks for a neighbor in both the Western AND Oriental groups. One country can't be both at once, so the decision never shows.

Your clarification tells me you meant it when you said you usually play Western powers. Westernization is done in steps, which means Muslim tech countries have to move to Oriental tech before they move to Western (which is what they renamed Latin tech to).

Or is it the name that is throwing you off? Oriental is what they call the tech group of Eastern Europe and the Ottomans. It is the tech group immediately below Western (previously Latin) tech.

Either way, what you actually are trying to do is move from the Muslim group to the Oriental group.

Good thing I still don't have a ruler with the apropiate skills...

Yes, western influences is just a modifier you get when you westernise. I don't remember exactly what it does, makes units more expensive? It won't change your tech back or anything.

Ok. I'm an idiot... I've checked my modifiers and it's actually a bad thing, +50 stability cost and has a lot of bad events... but things are oncourse... to bad I have less than 100 years of game in front of me.
