However since Arthur getting Dumnonia is reliant on him taking it from whoever inherits it after Morgan dies, since Arthur is a bastard he doesn't get it and ends up just holding a tiny holding which means his chances are low of staging a take over. There should be an event where if Morgan where to die without an heir (especially if Arthur is still regent), Arthur is given a chance to take the crown for himself (maybe it even turns him into a legitimate bastard?), that would at least give Arthur a fair chance of rising in most games without just dying in obscurity like he normally does.

I'm going to assume you mean Mordred here. :p
Well, in the books, this is pretty much completely antithetical to Arthur's character. He never wanted the throne (despite the desperate pleas of pretty much everyone else), is willing to give the entire kingdom for "peace", and even when Mordred was thought to be dead he only pushed for his son Gwydre to be king (and even then probably only because Gereint, who would have been the legitimate heir after Mordred, was long dead). Dying in obscurity sounds a lot like what Arthur probably would have done if the events leading up to Camlann had never happened - it's all he ever wanted.

Honestly, I do find that Arthur actually does gain the throne a fair amount of the time when Mordred dies - he's loved, so when he revolts, everyone revolts with him. There is actually already an event that turns Arthur into a legitimate bastard if he becomes King, IIRC.

Hi - just started playing the mod recently, and it is truly excellent, so thank you.

I'm really enjoying the new version (ended up deciding to download it after getting stuck on my previous campaign when the county transition spam started - every day in game I was getting this message pop up, and as it couldn't be ignored or relegated to the side of the screen, it made the game unplayable - I take it that this has been fixed for the current version though? (Saw something which sounded similar in the comments above).

I had a couple of questions - as an Anglo-Saxon ruler (starting as the Raedwalding vassal of Aelle and then slowly gaining power in Mercia), will there be any events further down the line which simulate later events, such as invasions against the Anglo-Saxons themselves, after they've pushed the Britons back to Wales and the heptarchy has been formed? Or perhaps at a specific Viking-related date?

In the previous version, I played as Arthur. It was cool to see the little flavour event for him choosing a wife, although as other posters have said it would be cool to see this have some effect - so Gorfyddyd declaring war on Dumnonia if Ceinwyn is rejected, for example. The British kingdoms, as an Anglo-Saxon observer, don't really seem to fight amongst themselves, and it would be good to see a bit more fluidity here (as that's what makes them so vulnerable to Aelle and Cerdic in the first place, although admittedly they are already quite weak, so perhaps making them more so would make it too easy to play as a Saxon). As an extension of this, it would be nice to see a British ruler actually claim the High Kingship successfully - at the moment, a King will try on each occasion, but they almost always back down - if not on the first rival, then definitely the second.

Also as Arthur, I tried to reform the Druidic religion, but after getting all thirteen treasures, nothing seemed to happen. Was this a bug, or did I just not wait long enough?

Two final things:
1) As the Anglo-Saxon vassal ruler of the Fens (under Aelle), I can't attack Decimus in Lindum (I think it was Lindum), in the area which later becomes Lindseige - Decimus later gained independence and I was still unable to conquer his lands - any idea why?
2) When conquering the British kingdoms as an Anglo-Saxon, the land doesn't seem to produce any soldiers as it is the wrong type of holding. I usually give these to vassals to hold, but not sure if they produce any troops either. Is there any way to convert these holdings to tribal lands, or should I just convert to Feudal/Germanic as soon as possible (when independent), so that I can hold both/upgrade my existing tribes?

Lots of questions, queries and suggestions, but I do want to reiterate that the mod is amazing - thank you for all of your hard work! :)

1) A lot of times you'll find you're blocked from expanding into an area in order to let things go in a more historical direction, like not being able to invade Lindum so that Decimus (or whoever the angle Foederati there is called) has a chance to take over. You'll hit a wall trying to invade Wales proper too, once you get there.

2) From what I've seen, there seems to be an event that auto-destroys all holdings in a province and creates a tribal village if you conquer the provinces as a Anglo-Saxon. Maybe you just have to wait a bit? Usually takes a few years for the event to fire.

I don't think this bug was actually reported before, so I'm not sure if it this was actually fixed.

Maybe, I don't know. :D

In the previous version, I played as Arthur. As an extension of this, it would be nice to see a British ruler actually claim the High Kingship successfully - at the moment, a King will try on each occasion, but they almost always back down - if not on the first rival, then definitely the second.

We certainly plan on fleshing out the High King system in the near future.

Also as Arthur, I tried to reform the Druidic religion, but after getting all thirteen treasures, nothing seemed to happen. Was this a bug, or did I just not wait long enough?

How long has it been since you found the treasure? And when you found the last treasure, did you get the option that says something along the lines of "Finally... this was the last one! I have gathered them all!"?

Two final things:
1) As the Anglo-Saxon vassal ruler of the Fens (under Aelle), I can't attack Decimus in Lindum (I think it was Lindum), in the area which later becomes Lindseige - Decimus later gained independence and I was still unable to conquer his lands - any idea why?

EmperorG is correct. Linnius is protected from being conquered by Anglia or its vassals to give Lindsey a chance to form.

They should turn tribal after about 5 years or so.

Here's an idea. Maybe you could use the China mechanics to simulate either the Roman Empire OR the Arabs/Moors/Muslims arriving in the Iberian Penninsula?

EDITED: Maybe it has already been discussed but I thought that I should mention it here.

It will be used for the Eastern Empire. Most of the uninhabitated parts of the current map will eventually be filled out as far as I know.

Sounds sweet if that's the case, because I've understood that the contrary is true. That Italy and Spain won't be filled out and that thus the Eastern Roman Empire won't make an appearence. Using the Roman Empire by the China mechanics was my first thought but for reasons that I mentioned I considered it unlikely that Constantinople would interact with Gaul or Britain in this time period.

The moors to, even though they will hold titles. In fact, the eastern empire will have land at some point too ;)

See above. Its my understanding that Italy and Spain won't be added and thus the Eastern Roman Empire makes little sense when the Moors had far more interaction than the Romans did in this period, with areas on the map. But like I said, I think that the Roman Empire would make better sense it was my initial thought.

You aren't the first person to suggest it, nor do I think you'll be the last. :p

Not sure where you got that idea from. We've been saying that adding Iberia and Italia is in our long-term plans for years now I think, and adding an offmap ERE has been discussed long before JD came out.

The moors to, even though they will hold titles. In fact, the eastern empire will have land at some point too ;)

Though the ERE's holdings on map are probably going to be under a Western Protectorate rebrand (The Exarchs?) most likely. Since the Exarchate of Africa wasn't formed until Maurice came around, the name I would give ERE holdings conquered under Justinian would be "The Exarchate of Ravenna".

If the Moors get one too, it would likely be "al-Maghrib al-Aqsa" or something like that (Since Maghrib means "The West" and al-Maghrib al-Aqsa was an actual region of it representing virtually all of Morocco and Algiers). So really both Empires (ERE and Umayyad Caliphate) can be represented rather well by the Western Protectorate mechanic, and the Silk Road closing due to internal issues off map makes sense for both too. More I think of it, more I like the idea of the China mechanic being integrated into the game.

I don't know how moddable the off-map powers / protectorate mechanic is but if possible I think if would be cool for for Ravenna, Africa and Spania to be different "protectorates" under ERE instead of just one giant western protectorate.

I don't know how moddable the off-map powers / protectorate mechanic is but if possible I think if would be cool for for Ravenna, Africa and Spania to be different "protectorates" under ERE instead of just one giant western protectorate.

It's not possible to have multiple offmap governors, but we may use special tributary types instead to work around that when it comes to it.

Are there any plans for adding the Huns to this mod in the future? Some of the bookmarks might historically have Attila in them as an invading horde, I know he marched as far as Orleans before dying in 454. Unless I'm missing something anyway, also kudos to whoever added Beowulf in the mid 500's I thought that was a really nice touch.

Yes, the Huns are planned to be added at some point.

Who are you playing as, and who are you trying to attack?

I'm playing as Ebrauc. I cannot attack anyone. It doesn't matter if they are heathens, foreigners, or both, I cannot go to war against them.

I assume you're Cumbric? Brythonic characters can only get the county conquest cb against characters of other culture groups. If you want to expand into your fellow Cumbrians/Britons, you'll have to do so the old-fashioned way (marrying for claims or fabricating claims once you become feudal). Unlike in vanilla, religion is almost completely irrelevant when it comes to cbs; instead, everything revolves around culture.

The Angles are also my neighbors and I cannot declare war against them either.

I can modify the 'claim on province by chancellor doesn't work' in the game's consolers job files, right? I'll go ahead and do that. I think this should be an option at the start of the game (and if it is, opps, I didn't see it)
