Ok so I just gave that a shot one more time, it just crashes at the near ending of the loading screen still. So still no progress sadly :(

This problem has cropped up for a few people, including me - there's a fair bit of discussion in the earlier pages. I'm about 95% sure it's related to the base map, as every version of this mod has had the same crash for me, as have the most recent versions of "The Winter King", which changed their base map over to this one, plus the loading screen says something about map/graphics loading when the crash happens. I had thought it was probably hardware related given my computer is going on 5 years old and wasn't exactly top of the range at the time.

It could theoretically be hardware related, if the map files weren't right the game wouldn't load (the engine is very specific). I can upload an essentially empty mod sometime today (just the map, no events or anything) if you guys would like to test that theory.

Indeed. I am trying hard for a Christmas release for a beta. The only bookmark available in the initial release will be vanilla ones (not sure how many I will get to) due to the shear amount of time needed to do the history files for the holy roman empire/iberian/italian dynasties (the new bookmarks).

I can't really troubleshoot past versions, haven't worked on the old code in quite a while.

As to the previous questions - currently the new traits, population, buildings, are all done. Currently finishing the map and then onto events/decisions (the groundwork for which has already been laid out), followed by bookmarks and lastly portraits.

For the map, Iberia is done, the Austrian imperial circle is now done, currently working on the Bavarian circle (of which 1/2 is done).

To do: Swabian, Franconian, Bohemian, Upper and Lower Saxon, 1/2 of Westphalian and 1/2 of Upper Rhenish circles.

Part of the process right now is to make a relatively uniform province size (for population control), which means I am still in the process of going across old portions of the map and updating them. A lot of the really tiny provinces are being combined, and the larger ones split (while adding missed holdings).

Awesome! I'm going to be recreating the possessions of Charles V for sure as soon as the mod is out (IF I can run it, of course). Would you say that after the completion and the redistribution of provinces would be many more of then than in the past release? And if so, do you have an estimate of how mant of them will be?

Another question, how have you made the population mechanic in terms of which sources have you managed when determining the population assignation and the options for it to change? I'm planning a mod in a more generalised map of CK2 (i.e. same scope but less provinces) with a longer timespam and i would like to include some representation of the demographics, but I wouldn't know where to look for the sources.

Basically, my approach to seeding the population is to find information on the major cities and overall kingdom/area population. From that point I have a custom formula that fills in the gaps based on surrounding cities and terrain. Thoroughly researching the population for every town is simply not plausible for me (time wise).

I have not done any work on that apart from general brainstorming.
