The coding is incomplete, right now the heir of France gets it. Is it not happening? There are 2. A minor title and the actual title (needs to control the entire dauphine duchy for the actual title). The actual duchies are restricted to the eldest sons of the monarch. The challenge for coding this is that the heir apparent is the person who is first in line of succession and cannot be displaced from inheriting by the birth of another person and I don't know if it is possible to code that exactly (the cannot be displaced part).

I do want to note that in the rework for the peerages and appanages you only need to control the majority of the title and not completely control it like in the live version.

The heir is given the title of Dauphin, but not the duchy. Instead he gets the Duchy of Berry, is this correct? And in this case it was the oldest son.

It would be correct if the entire duchy of dauphine is not under control of the French king. If the entire duchy its controlled (by the king or his vassals) the heir should also get the duchy and if he doesn't there must be a glitch in the dauphine code because I know it its working for duke of Cornwall, Rothesay, and calabria

It doesn't really matter for the Dauphiné if the heir really owns it or not, because since Louis XI, no heir apparent ever held any lands in the Dauphiné ; they had the title, but never administered the lands themselves, or even lived there.

First I'd like to say that this is an amazing mod and I'm glad you decided do expand the scope of the project to western Europe. I know you still have a lot of things to do before expanding the map, but in the future I could offer assistance in the Iberian Peninsula (titles, characters, flavor, etc.) especially Portugal and Granada if you'd like.

I also have a few questions:

1. Do you plan to implement a new special troop type to represent the more modern armies of this period like cannons or musketeers?

2. Do you have any idea if you are going to add something from North Africa and if so how much?

If I could make a suggestion, if you do add it, maybe it should be limited to a few coastal cities like Sale, Tangier, Ceuta, Tlemcen, Algiers, Jijel and Tunis, perhaps making a few of them, like Algiers and Tunis, republics since the pirate captains had some sort of voting. This could make for a interesting game with the muslim pirates taking the place of vikings in the Old Gods (would need to allow muslims to raid), since this era is the beginning of the barbary pirates age (Barbarossa was born 1468 and his brother Oruç a few years earlier, althouh they were born in aegean island).

Sadly the last version killed my test game! Suddenly IA started to usurp each other titles forever... I have a long list of decisions that permitted to usurp any title in any realm luckily starting a new game this not happened anymore; I don't know if it was a save compatibility issue or if some check is missing in that decisions.

Now two bug one aesthetic the other a real problem:
  1. The Italians are too much dark, are you using the old Mediterranean portraits? Strangely not using them they will remain dark...
  2. As Duke of Milan and married to a French countess I had the right of "jure uxoris" on her and the Queen of Naples with which I'm not married! I suspect a problem with global flags here... By the way the special decision has not localization.

-I will always welcome help. While I can actually read Spanish (unlike every other language in continental Europe) I would love help with Portugal and other Iberian areas because my historical knowledge there is lacking. But hey, at least I won't need google translate for most of Spain. Made progress pretty slow for France and Italy.

-Cannons will be in the game, musketeers right now I don't think so. I feel like it is a slippery slope to add in guns. I still want to keep knights a real thing, and handheld guns more or less spelled the end of that. I need to learn more about modding combat tactics before I add them into the game.

-I do want to add some of north Africa, especially because I want the reconquista to have fuel in the opposite direction. How much I will add I don't know because again my knowledge of that area is not great right now.

Sadly the last version killed my test game! Suddenly IA started to usurp each other titles forever... I have a long list of decisions that permitted to usurp any title in any realm luckily starting a new game this not happened anymore; I don't know if it was a save compatibility issue or if some check is missing in that decisions.

-Sorry, I should mention that most updates will break saves since so much is still being changed.

-I haven't done anything to the portraits, those are the new DLC portraits. I actually modified the skin color to more closely match vanilla (simulate outdoor lighting instead of indoors) but I can't include them because it would be like releasing DLC content for free. I think someone actually tried to do that and paradox removed the link. If you have photoshop I can give you a really easy way to fix it (would take maybe 5-10 minutes depending on how fast you can click).

-The jure uxoris bug is interesting, I don't know how it could do that because it is a targetted decision with the filter of spouse (so it shouldn't be possible to target anyone but your wife). Really weird.

As a side note, I also did a test game as Milan, it is quite the fun area to play.

Yes I'd imagined that the save game could had have problem I considered myself lucky that with previous version the game continued to work! Being an alpha the save game compatibility is not expected by the way...

For the Italian darkness issue I'm pretty sure in my mod they have the right skin tone when I patched it for CM I changed the Italian cultures (there is more than one Italian culture in my mod) from "mediterrangfx" to "italiangfx" and "occitangfx" as backup and they have the same skin tone of the French / Germans as it should be...

Regarding the "jure uxoris bug" if you want I can send you the save game in which the thing is happening.

About the Reconquista, I doubt the muslims could roll back the Reconquista. By 1469 the Spanish had too much manpower to make that feasible. Granada was holding on and were basically a client of Castille.

Also will Scotand be divided into Lowland Scots and Highland Scots?

This the link to save game: try to go on the young Queen of Naples and right on her an horrendous "jure uxoris" targetted decision will appear (yes it works I'm the King of Naples now) :D

Regarding the darker Italian I confirm that you are using "southern.gfx" as their portrait they changed it in the CM (I remember this because I did a diff during the porting) the correct one is "italiangfx", now "Galeazzo Maria" is white with long blonde hairs:

The only one that is dark in Italy is the King of Naples that is of Castilian culture and I fear, this for Paradox is correct (IMHO for Western European those portraits should never be used, maybe they work for Middle Eastern cultures...).
I suggest, anyway to do a diff between your 00_cultures.txt and the last vanilla version.

I do not have understood what they have done with the CM patch I think they have introduced these new "Italian Portraits" in the patch itself for sure I have not a separate "Italian Portraits" DLC for them, however yes these "Southern" portrait remained enabled disabling Mediterranean Portraits for me too... I suspect they are not used for nothing anymore in vanilla! And it were a paid DLC...

Italian in the culture files (I haven't changed this from vanilla) has a backup cultural gfx whereas most of the Iberian cultures use southerngfx with no backup.

If they are not showing up something is probably not checked in your loader because it unquestionably uses them.

OK mistery resolved they are into the Iberian Portraits and "italiangfx" does not exists it is for this that in "The Empire of Gods" they appeared so beautiful while now are horrendous (it is not only the skin tone they appear more ugly really!) so I was using the Occitan Portraits for all this time ? Why they seems more Italians that the Paradox Italians?
So Portrait are not moddable? But no new ones can be created too? One time I had seen them in this forum but now it is some time that I don't see anything on this front... IMHO I say this again the "southern" portrait shall be NEVER used for Western European cultures (well I'm not sure what culture merits this insulting portrait... maybe can be used in the Middle Earth Project for Orchish characters)?
