What are you planning to do with that "Burgundian Crownlands" kingdom? Is it supposed to be a reference to the Kingdom of Arles/Arelat?

All the crownlands right now are just areas I haven't assigned duchies to yet. I plan on finishing the Kingdom of Burgundy/Arles and Italy tomorrow. In in the end the crownlands will only be the areas around the capitals. For example Middlesex in England, and the area around Paris in France.

This looks really interesting, can't wait for this to come out, are you including the whole ck2 map? I hope you are.

Impossible to do the whole map (would easily reach 3000 provinces so it's just not plausible). The furthest east I will go is Austria. South will be right below the Iberian peninsula to add in that struggle with the reconquest.

As a general note. The addition of the de jure duchies was one of the last major things I needed to do before an alpha release. With that aspect being complete tomorrow I will work on some flags, finish up some of the basic systems and hopefully get a release this week. I am out of work this week for an injury so I will be able to accomplish a lot of modding. Been making a lot of progress this past week.

The problem is that there never existed a duchy of Lothier in France (or at least I have never heard of one). From what I could find, it refers either to a deformation of Lower Lothringia, which is Lower Lorraine or the duchy of Brabant, and neither of those comprise the lands of Artois and Flanders (I mention those two because they are the biggest in the area and would have seemed like the natural choice for the ''duchy'' level lands), or the region of Picardie.

Moreover, none of the maps I found actually name this region Lothier or anything similar...

This seems to be the divisions of the region :

029b.htm

As you can see, Artois, Boulogne and Flanders seem to be the biggest titles in the region and aren't close to the lands of Lower Lothringia, and so would seem to be the best choice for duke-level holdings, no?

Also : why does Angoulême comprise the Saintoge, for practical purposes? And what is the big red land next to Burgundy that comprises lands of the Dauphiné, Franche-comté, Provence, etc.?

I have no idea what I was looking at when I thought of that then. o_O Have a good idea for the Duchy that could include the lowlands? I gotta have one. Should I just make them the Duchies of Artois and Duchy of Flanders?

The image you uploaded looks broken to me, could you try another upload?

The big red land is the de jure kingdom of burgundy/arles. Place holder de jure right now.

Saintoge was a practical issue.

The duchies were kinda of hard to do. It is a bit of a flaw in the system because the territory always changed. I am 100% open to suggestions for changing the compositions around.

I redid the link, but here is the webpage : http://www.cosmovisions.com/cartes/VL/029b.htm

For the region, there are three principal comtés, namely Ponthieu, Artois and Boulogne, as can be seen here :

Carte_Etats_Bourguignons.gif

To these, can be added the comté of Saint-Pol, which is more minor, and of Guines (which is English lands). The comté of Saint-Pol, Artois and Boulogne could probably be under a duchy-level comté of Artois because since the marriage between Philippe le Hardi et Marguerite de Flandre, the comté of Saint-pol and Boulogne depended upon the comté of Artois. That being said, for practicality, you could put Guînes, which is partially occupied by the English, under it because it lost some of its lands to Artois. Finally, you could put Ponthieu under Artois, mainly for practicality.

For the comté of Flanders, it should simply be the comté of Flanders, lol.

I'm with Autokrator here. Lothier makes no sense. There was the Duke of Lothier but he never had any connection to Flanders or even the Picardie. I would name the region Flanders. This would be the most fitting one. Flanders was more than a county. It was around the same level as the Normandy. So I would rename Lothier into Flanders. Maybe you could split the Picardie as own duchy too.

I am going to post another revision maybe today for some more feedback. Just to give some insight as to where I am getting some of the provinces and counties (not the duchies). What I may do is revert viscounties to being provinces under the counties to make it a bit clearer. I will still localise them as viscounts though.

I have no idea where to start first when this mod releases. I want to play in Italy, but yet France looks fun and England of course during Henry VIII would be hilarious. How many flags will you be making for Nobles coat of arms. I like to make my vassals CoA look pretty.

There will be a lot of fun people to play as. You know, when I did the starting scenario they make you pick a max of 6 interesting people which is just so hard to do. I have a potential idea where I can do a separate start "era" for each zone of the map. For example, UK, France, Italy, HRE, Spain. Then I could still make more bookmarks for earlier start dates. For the eras I would just basically separate them by 1 day so its essentially the same start date just with more detailed interesting characters.

I am including the historic coat of arms for every dynasty added.

I am also working on adding historic coat of arms for every province. I have them all saved for the provinces of France but haven't had the chance to plug them into the game just yet.

Awesome. So will we see the Borgias as well?

Rodrigo will definitely be there, the rest haven't been born yet. I will try my best to set that up with special events because I know a lot of people have expressed an interest in them.

Do you sleep, at all? Also, can't wait for that updated France :) And, just so I understand the system, the provinces in the game will correspond to baronies, which, when put together will correspond to a county (equivalent of duchy in vanilla), which in turn, when put with other counties form a duchy (king rank in vanilla), which when put with other duchies form a Kingdom? (Emperor rank in vanilla)?

If so, what will happen to the HRE? Will the Emperor have some special title? And the actual holdings under a province, what will they correspond to?

Also, and maybe that's a weird question, but will there be a way to fix the AI marriage behavior like in vanilla so we don't end up, with so many more characters, with crazy borders, marriages outside of nobility, barons not marrying, etc.?

In answer to your first question - generally speaking yes. France is being done in a more unique way because it is just so different in structure. The provinces in France will actually have the proper name according to history. For example, the province of Tartas will actually be the Viscounty of Tartas instead of the Barony of Tartas. It will be much clearer when I post the next revision later today.

The Emperor will have a titular King title (vanilla emperor level). He cannot have true King vassals, and he himself would hold the titles of the kingdoms if he conquered any. Bohemia will be a Duchy (vanilla king level) localised to a kingdom while under control of the HRE.

Marriages have been modded heavily. I increased the value the AI puts on prestige through marriage immensely so the tiers will marry similar tiers. It works extremely well.

Can I do this also for the vanilla? If so, where can I find the file? :)

You can. All you need to edit is defined.lua. I can't give detailed instructions right now because I'm not home, but i did do so in a thread in the general ck2 forums. If you search for marriage you may be able to find it.
