Snoopdogg's suggestion that marty is just Ironhead's rival seems pretty likely, but marty also mentioned that he's going away for a couple of days so he might have been in a hurry and messaged the wrong person.

I notice that the NHST, if following just behind the LSST, shall deliver an instantenous two votes for the poor fellow who made that one post.

Therefore it seems to be a bit wolfish to propose that.

Anyhow, for now we have a better target.

But enough about that. Let's talk instead about this PM that appeared in my inbox -- clearly misplaced by the mailman, which is unfortunate for the sender:

Unless the GM forgot to tell me something, I am not part of any "team" that marty99 is on. Could this be some sort of goodie team, and "go after" means to scan and clear? I think not.

UNVOTE SLINKY VOTE MARTY99

Let us not forget who is GM'ing here. This is Ciryandor, mister "let's put curses, spies, and blesses into a Lite game". He also had an idea of splitting the village up into two factions much like the wolves, except that each village seer would be the only one who knew about that special rule. This may be something like that and marty is the village faction seer and he scanned Ironhead. Or perhaps he is a normal seer, scanned Ironhead (as a cultist or something), and attempted to act as a sorc and infiltrate Ironhead's pack. This may also simply be a mass PM trying to ping baddies.

Unvote marty, vote Syber_sid

We don't want a runaway vote even if we have this sketchy "evidence".

I think I can safely rule out many of these ideas. I don't want to give away any of my trade secrets, but suffice to say that marty99 fell for one of my schemes. The PM I posted was the end result of it, but there is more to it. Perhaps when the game ends I can post the rest, but to do so now would jeopardize others who may be unwittingly entangled in it.

On the other hand, a good GM always has something up his sleeve, and I don't know what to expect of Ciryandor.

Because Ironhead.
Verily, is there really any other reason for anyone to consider? EUROO7 has summarized today's vote perfectly.

Simply posting that there may be others entangled in it is jeopardizing others who may be entangled in it, so either no one else fell for it, or it is a lie.

You are thinking too two-dimensionally. I am not doing my own dirty work. At this point, my proxy (or proxies) are sowing the seeds of doubt among a few select individuals.

Ask some of the veteran WW players and they will tell you -- my schemes are not as simple as you think.

The complexity of your scheme is irrelevant. By announcing you have a scheme, people become even more paranoid than they already are. They start giving out false information, but then that information can only actually be used if you have scanned the said person to learn if they are a goodie or a baddie, and then you can define whether the names they are announcing can be ruled out as fellow goodies or baddies.

You think so? I found it only to be a bad thing when the rivals were in the same pack, which I guess can be put up on the list in the section "OrangeYoshi's sketchy GM'ing ideas".
Rivals in general are a very problematic trait. If its exclusively villager-villager, then people will wise up and use it to start a JL. If its baddie-goodie, then the goodie is gonna get hunted real quick. If its baddie-baddie in the same pack, then youre ruining pack dynamic and cause them to fight each other whereass they should fight the other pack. If its baddie-baddie from opposing packs, then the rival from the last hunting pack will die first. Then the rival from the first pack might die if the other rival has told his team of him. Which he very well may not have. So either you have 2 wolfs dying on the first 2 days or you have 1 wolf dying on the first day and that pack being handicapped by the trait for the rest of the game.

In one of my games I had a wolf from one pack be a rival of a cultist from another pack. Surprise surprise. The wolfs hunted the cultist. Twist! The rules stated that a cultist hunted would not die, but swap loyalities! So suddenly the new pack had a cultist that one of its members wanted to kill off. The cultist himself likely didn't know that his rival was now a wolf master..... Ohh, and would they suspect that their original cultist now might belong to another pack? Fun & Ev0l :)

Ask some of the veteran WW players and they will tell you -- my schemes are not as simple as you think.
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I know for a fact that you didn't do any complex scheme, you don't have any interesting plan and you most certainly never was in PM contact with Marty or anyone else. What you did was simply show up on Martys doorstep in RL and hit him with a big stick until he admitted his role.

A tactic I can only endorse! Vote Marty

True.

Well I'm sorry, but it was my first GM'd game and only 21 people showed up to play.

All this talk about rivals is going off topic, however. We should be discussion what led Ironhead to get this info from marty, and not only that, buy why didn't he hold on to it for a day or two and try to actually get some use out of it than just killing a single possible baddie?

@ AVN: We've known he wasn't 12 since his first game. :p

Then you shouldn't have included it ;) Don't feel too constrained with you pre-game setup, if theres fewer or more players than anticipated then modify the setup accordingly.

buy why didn't he hold on to it for a day or two and try to actually get some use out of it than just killing a single possible baddie?
He may very well have done both ;) Which would certainly have been the smartest tactic. I'm not saying anything more, but try re-reading what he has said he (and others) have done.
