Once they had decided on a course of action, however, the villagers were hard-pressed to decide on whom to kill. After all, who really could be suspected of being a werewolf? Everyone in the community seemed so normal…
Soon the village square was filled with the rise and fall of angry, arguing voices. Despite the dubious evidence supporting the guilt of anyone, it soon became a frenzied chaos of votes, with long-harbored enmities between villagers emerging in the ugly form of accusations.
One of the first accusations was against King, the village mayor, but it was quickly dismissed by the others because of its source; “Kash”, a boy of terrible reputation long-suspected of being the source of disappearing valuables around the village. This was then followed by an accusation against Sir Rendap by Pelinal Whitestrake, and a wild volley of accusations followed it. Eventually, suspicion rested on the shoulders of four men; Pelinal Whitestrake, suspected for his accusation of a noble member of the Knights Templar; Rand, the scribes apprentice, who had often been seen skulking around at strange hours of the night… possibly to seek the attentions of a certain baker’s daughter, as one person pointed out; al’Seen, the villager bowyer, due to his tendency to stalk the woods late at night; and finally, Mr. Holier T. Hanthou, purely because of his irritable nature, annoying high-pitched voice, and regular scathing remarks about other members of the village. By the end of the day, the villagers decided to simply string Mr. Hanthou up on the gallows, just in case, and continue this business the following day. Holier went to his death shrieking the whole way, and Snoopy, the nominated headsman, did a poor job of the noose, so he managed to slip his head out from it and scurry away, resulting in a long night of hunting before they finally found the man, dead from (assumedly self-administered) poison and lying in his bed. Nothing seemed to indicate that he had been any kind of monster, though no one would deny that he had been evilly annoying, and all agreed that removing him had been a far from sad affair. In fact, the only regrets anyone seemed to have was that they had not been able to strangle him themselves.
It was not until the following day that the grim discovery was made. It appeared that during the night, the young rogue “Kash” had decided to take advantage of the confusion and slip away for some late-night thievery. It also appeared that he had stumbled across a werewolf while snatching some loaves of bread from the baker’s shop, who had then decided to mingle the thief’s blood with every loaf, cake and other baked good of any variety in sight. No one was especially sad to see the boys death, in fact most thought of it as a stroke of good luck that not just one, but TWO, annoyances had been dealt with that day… though most of the village vowed to stay away from the baker’s shop for a long time after that.
Najs, the Innocent Villager, was lynched.
enkhuush, the Innocent Villager, was hunted by the wolves.
Not my best work, but I have a splitting headache and so its the best I could do. Expect plot inconsistencies, grammatical mistakes, etc.
