Werewolf Lite CCCXLIX:
Sid Meier’s Civilization

In the beginning the earth was without form, and void.
But the sun shone upon the sleeping earth,
And deep inside the brittle crust, massive forces waited to be unleashed.
The seas parted, and great continents were formed.
Mountains arose, earthquakes spawned massive tidal waves.
Volcanoes erupted and spewed forth fiery lava,
And charged the atmosphere with strange gasses.
Into this swirling maelstrom of fire and air and water,
The first stirrings of life appeared.
Tiny organisms, cells and amoeba, clinging to tiny sheltered habitats.
But the seeds of life grew, and strengthened, and spread, and diversified, and prospered.
And soon every continent and climate teemed with life.
And with life came instinct, and specialization, natural selection, reptiles, dinosaurs and mammals.
And finally there evolved a species known as man.
And there appeared the first faint glimmers of intelligence.
The fruits of intelligence were many:
Fire, tools, and weapons,
The hunt, farming, and the sharing of food,
The family, the village, and the tribe.
Now it required but one more ingredient:
A great leader to unite the quarrelling tribes,
To harness the power of the land,
To build a legacy that would stand the test of time:
A CIVILIZATION!

But wait – it’s not that simple. It’s not so easy to spread civilization when there are barbarians lurking in the midst of world leaders. Barbarian menace must be removed!

RULES:
There will be 17 players, no more, no less. Roles will be handed out after #17 signs up.
The game will then proceed to the First Night (after I have handed you your roles).

The Roles
1x Augustus Caesar (Seer): The gold standard of Civilization leader since time immemorial. He can divine once per night if the person is genuinely interested in spreading civilization or if he’s a barbarian.
4x Barbarians(Werewolves): These individuals will do anything in their power to destroy civilizations and leave forgotten ruins behind their wake of destruction. Can eliminate one civilization leader (and thus doom that civilization) each night.
12x Civilization leaders (Villagers): Normal leaders bent on dominating the world and spreading their civilization.

(NOTE: Obviously, the players are encouraged to choose appropriate characters to play as, and to roleplay if they like. However, if a player does not choose a character, one will be selected for them at such time that something happens to them, usually something bad.

Deadlines for votes are given by 19:00 GMT – three hours before the forum reboot. (PLEASE CONVERT THIS TO YOUR OWN TIME ZONE IMMEDIATELY TO AVOID FUTURE CONFUSION). A vote at 18:59 will count, whereas a vote at 19:00 will not.

Game starts with a nocturnal deadline.

Winning:
Augustus Caesar and Civilization leaders win by eliminating Barbarians. Barbarians win by achieving numerical parity with the other players, at which point they can reveal themselves to loot, burn and pillage civilizations.

Various rules:
§1. You sign up for the game by requesting so in a post in this thread.
§2a. No new players will be admitted into the game once it has started, unless substituting for a current player.
§2b. Players who have been subbed due to failure to participate may not sub for others
§3a. You are responsible for keeping your private message inbox empty enough to receive private messages.
§3b. Roles will be distributed via private messages. Seer and werewolves will always receive PM; villagers may or may not receive their role in a private message. Whether they should receive their role in PM or not will be announced in the thread.
§3c. If you are confused about your role, contact the GM via private message. Do not make a show of it in the thread. Any attempts to discuss role message in the thread are strictly forbidden.

§4a. Orders not delivered on time are IGNORED.
§4b. NOT VOTING means REPLACEMENT OR EVEN DEATH, IMMEDIATELY. The granting of any "grace period" or forgiveness for late votes is entirely up to the GM.
§4c. Invalid votes (like voting for the GM, voting for dead people etc.) are treated like no vote is made. The GM has the final say in all matters.
§4d. Lying to the GM results in permanent ban from werewolf games.
§4e. Never quote private messages from GM (whether true or fake) in the game.
§4f. Screenshots of PMs are not allowed.
§4g. When quoting PM messages (forged or genuine), remove the identification number from them.

§5a. SPECTATORS AND GHOSTS MAY HAUNT, TAUNT AND FLAUNT, BUT NEVER SUGGEST ANY COURSE OF ACTION, AFFECT THE GAME IN ANY OTHER WAY NOR REVEAL ANY SECRET/INSIDE INFORMATION. ANYONE CAUGHT DOING IT WILL BE *PERMANENTLY* BANNED FROM PARTICIPATION. NO EXCUSES ARE VALID.
§5b. When doing ghost/spectator commentary, please use a non-white colour.

§6. Alliances which aren't based on your roles in the game between players are forbidden. These alliances which continue from one game to another undermine the whole idea of the game.

§7a. Voting must be done in the following way. Write "VOTE" and the person you are voting for in bold text, minimum font size 4. For example.
VOTE X
If you wish to unvote someone, write "UNVOTE":
UNVOTE X, VOTE Y
Capital letters are optional. Any other type of voting is counted as no vote and will make you eligble for subbing. Spelling errors are subject to oversight. In case of revoting without unvoting the original vote will be the counted vote.
§7b. At the end of the day player with highest votes is killed (lynched). If there is a tie, all leading candidates will be killed.
§7c. Players will be dead when GM posts the update saying so, until such thing happens every player still in game is alive (if barely in the case of vote winners)
§7d. Should GM make a mistake (lynch/hunt wrong person etc.) the mistake will be kept in the game.

History of civilization

Night one:
Fair island of Britain sees the fledgling civilization of English destroyed by nearby savage barbarians. Queen Elizabeth I of the English and Irish (AvatarOfKhaine), civilization leader (villager), swears her nation will rise again as her last words. Unfortunately without any cities or national leaders English have played their short part in the world history and are finished as a civilisation.

Day one:
Denouncements followed one another as civilizations started getting in touch with one another. Tense situation was in a standstill until at the end of day the unfair nuclear advantage was questioned. And sure enough, Indian nuclear program (Arkasas), seer, was dismantled. The stupidity of other leaders made them forget that nuclear deterrence is needed to keep barbarians at bay.

Night two:
With the loss of nuclear weapons every leader felt they needed some new advantage. Stalin was overjoyed to hear that nearby horse tribes were willing to parley with him and he happily left the safety of Kremlin behind. His trusting nature turned out to be his undoing as horse barbarians killed Josif Stalin (deathbywombat), leader of Russians and thus doomed the Russian civilization to obscurity.

Day two:
Bickering civilization leaders contested and challenged each others during the day. In the end one absent leader whose rather erratic actions previously brought him to the forefront was denounced and thus doomed. Napoleon (Dexander), leader of French was quickly overwhelmed by other civilizations and his nation razed to the ground.

Night three:
After the tough contest of military supremacy earlier each and every civilization felt they needed more units. Despite the fact that they should know better the lure of barbarians promising extra troops proved to be too alluring. And thus Chinese militia leader (Rovsea) of Chinese agreed to a meeting with barbarians. His last thought was how could he be so unbelievably stupid as to fall into the trap.

Day three:
The fall of various civilizations picked up pace. Today did everybody not only decide to eliminate one but two civilization leaders to remove more competition.

First to be denounced was George Washingont (JermanTK), leader of Americans, who took his death and failure of his civilization calmly.

The other one was Julius Caesar, leader of Romans, who failed yet again to heed the wisdom of augurs to avoid accident. And down he went with a snarl.

Night four:
Travelers from distant lands brought back word of yet another terrible barbarian activity. Mahatma Gandhi (GreatUberGeek), leader of Indians, had succumbed to barbarian invasion leaving Indian civilization in ruins. His boasts about having his words backed with nuclear weapons turned out to be just as empty and bleak as the future of Indian civilization.

Day four:
Remaining leaders denounced Datlof (Spockyt), civilization leader, almost unanimously. Unfortunately it proved to be final error and barbarian troops happily participated in the work.

Night five:
Oldest remaining civilization, Babylonians, was the next target of barbarians. Babylonian knowledge, armies and the walls of Babylon itself were no match to the fury of barbarians. Hammurabi (Illiria), leader of Babylonians, succumbed to the attack which doomed his civilization.

Game ends in baddie victory

Winners:
Christian II of Denmark (Wagonlitz)
Otto von Bismarck (CaesarCzech)
Mansa Musa (brovahkiin)
Norte Chico (aedan777)

Ill sub

It seems he's putting a self imposed ban for violating ghost rules in the last lite
Not sure that is necessary though; but Skobie will be the judge of that. But given he is the only one who has talked about bans and he clearly has learned his lesson due to following it I don't see why he actually should be banned. People have done worse things and not got banned. Hadn't he learned anything it would be different, but he obviously want to change.

I agree with you, he shouldn't be banned, he obviously learned his lesson, but really we can't control it if he wants to do this for a couple of lites
