In which case free wolf, several other implicated players, obvious no hunt on Marshall and the seer outing him and getting GA protection for at least a day. All round a stupid strategy for the wolves.

There's a difference between being smart and cautious and trying to prevent a JL from forming.

Wolf contacts Marshall claiming seer. Marshall tells wolf about cleared villager. Wolf starts "scanning" villagers for the rest of the game. That would be entirely possible in Grün; a bit harder under Gelb. But could still happen. Or Marshall has multiple claimants and tells it to the cleared villager who ends up contacting the wrong one.

You were being run up and likely to hang anyway; plus if you genuinely thought that deadline was midnight Dutch time then it is even likelier you could be a wolf since then you had literally nothing to lose.
