The real problem is more than weirdness. If Obama posted in the "falling oil prices" thread, the market would factor it in to its pricing. If he was even known to have read it, they'd look through it to see how it might affect his decision making. It would be seen as an official word, much as Johan's comments in game related threads become scripture. Now the truth would probably be Obama's said nothing he's not said elsewhere and read nothing he's not heard elsewhere, but the impression will have an impact.
Now obviously I'm not even remotely as important a figure as Obama, not even a public figure, so there'd be much less risk. But there's a few things that I could potentially be seen as giving an official word on, rather than just being another regular spectator who's read the same newspaper article as everyone else and has an opinion. I'd rather keep that distinction.
