It wasn't non resistance though. As mentioned there were fightings until the Government surrendered after a couple hours. The Germans had occupied all strategically important installations during the night before the invasion and the government was threatened with Copenhagen being level by the above circling bomber squad if they didn't surrender. If they hadn't surrendered Copenhagen would have been flattened and whoever was in command would have had to surrender; surrender was the only sensible choice.
We English fight for honour, while you Frenches fight for money.
Does the USSR mean nothing to you? They lost more soldiers than any other allied nation by a lot.
Well it is quite alot easier to withstand invasion attempts if you are on an island. You still surrendered, though. As jonti has kindly pointed out, Britain never surrendered. They would have fought on the beaches, on the landing zones and in the streets. They would have defended their island, whatever the cost may have been...
A.) At that time, Russia was nobody's enemy but Germany (And everybody they invaded pre-war, but that's beside the point)
2.) They were the third largest military presence in the 2nd World War. (Ahead of Britain, in my estimation)
Last.) They only took between 8 and 10 million Military casualties, as well as many more civilian casualties. To put this into perspective, militarily, Russia took more casualties than every other allied nation combined. Before you write off more deaths than the Holocaust (including Civilian casualties) as just two enemies killing each other, think about the sacrifices tens of millions of people gave on the Eastern front. No nation profited from that, and in no light can it ever be construed as a good thing.
Have I mentioned that the Russians were any better than the Germans? No, not really. But give them credit for helping to stop the Germans, they deserve more of it than any other nation I can think of.d-) USSR occupation was hardly better for any nation than Nazi occupation.

I would say that depends on which country we are looking at. For a country like Poland Soviet occupation most certainly was better, since had Poland remained under German control all Poles most likely would have been killed off or worked to death.d-) USSR occupation was hardly better for any nation than Nazi occupation.
That is applicable to many countries though; I guess what you meant is that Britain is the only country who tried to stop Germany and wasn't occupied at some time. E.g. France most certainly tried to stop Germany, but they were too weak.Britain is the only country which tried to stop totalitarianism and actually stuck with that till the end, that's what matters.
TBH, maybe we should have gone ahead with Operation Unthinkable; the reason that people overlook the atrocities of the Soviets is because they won. There was a reason that German soldiers and officers tried to surrender to the Western allies at the end of the war. However, Montgomery (who lacked any sympathy for the Germans, be they soldiers or civilians) sent them away because "the Russians were our allies" or something stupid like that. I wonder how many men died because of his arrogance...
If you wanna discuss history, History Forum is the best place to do that, not here :/
