My basic proposal of what would help drive the playerbase back up.


1: Launch games asap. Be it lite or big after 2-3 for lite and 3-4 for big days of waiting start the game regardless. More games=more ad posts and more activity in general.

2: ALWAYS ALWAYS ADVERTISE in the OT thread. This is vital as it is the only advertising posts that are allowed outside of this subforum.

3: More sig information about WW by people including links. This is not as vital but cannot hurt.

4: AAR activity is good idea at the end of games as it keeps activity going, threads bumped and general attention up. We could probably start putting some extra effort into ot advertising thread by on occasion putting an AAR of sorts to a really good game there.

5: I will try to help gm a bit more often to help make sure the lags between games are shorter if no GMs are around. :blush:

I guess I need to step out more to the other forums again. I get tired of reading the same stuff in the game forums. The game AARs are usually the only interesting threads there. If I have a question or problem in a game, the question has usually been asked and answered before me.

Depends on how you define death's door, but I'll admit there are times when the light seems uncomfortably near. Nothing that can't be fixed however.

I didn't say it was. So don't give me any of the 'people have been saying WW is dying since 2008' schtick Because it's irrelevant whether or not we're in terminal decline. Regardless, we have nothing to lose from trying to gain as many new players as we can.

Yeah fair enough, just need at least one WW going at a time. Delays and long sign ups are lame.

I would still say that lites should be around as well, as they are more "simple" than Big games. We should also be able to get lites going faster than bigs (I know it's not always the case).

I remember, it was almost two years ago when we first had the idea of creating a thread in the OT specifically to attract new players.. Read from the link onward about the general idea. At the time we did create a new thread, but it wasn't as much of a success as might have been hoped (just re-read Ironhead's rant about Tornadoli: sad episode but absolutely hilarious in retrospect )
Now we have another thread which is currently used here.

It serves a purpose but, with no disrespect to drxav, I think with creativity, planning and co-ordinated effort we could create a much more effective thread. One that showcases what werewolf actually is. A lot of people think it's some 'lame' rp adventure thing, and I think if they realised it was a variant of mafia more people would be interested.

This is one of the few non-player replies to the thread, for example:

This is the kind of perception we need to destroy in my opinion. It doesn't matter if werewolf kind've is like that; it's so much deeper but if we tell people that it's even remotely similar to wink murder they'll automatically assume it's lame and disregard any other .

Let the current one fade away (it's already on the bottom of the 4th page) and create a new, shining beacon recruitment thread for werewolf. Anyone want to share some idea? Everything from the title to how we explain the rules concisely but fully, and the aesthetics of the first post. It can't hurt to try, and if we do it well, surely more people would at least be somewhat intrigued. What do you guys think?

This. In fact it takes up orders of magnitude less time than other games if you want it to. I usually spend hours playing werewolf when I can but equally 5 minutes a day is sufficient. The idea that you can devote as much or little time to the game as you wish.

I checked before I posted, a new Lite was already up and normally Lite don't do ads anyways so it felt pretty safe.

And we don't have to/shouldn't do this every time a new big is up either or it will lose its novelty.
