By the way; awhile back someone said that the optimal number of players was 40-45. Maybe; but I envision a game of 60 or more, and if we can achieve it I propose handing out brutal traits and hunter roles like condoms in a public high school. The game would last the same amount of time as a 40-45 player game, but would be a glorious bloodbath.
Ok guys, what am I doing wrong? The last 3 games I've manged to stay alive late into the game, but then get hunted. What can I do to get hunted less?
A bunch of rookies or returning former players who can be paired off and lynched in the first ten or fifteen days so that the gentrified veterans can enjoy their endgame without the unwashed masses to muck it up? If we do that, they won't come back for more.
There are basically three things you can do:
Create a fun and popular RP character: This will only keep you alive for 75% of the game.
Become johho: Slightly more difficult, but all you need is a highly analytical mind and a pipe.
Be GM: what it says on the tin.
The third option is to take the AOK approach. Spam game threads with incoherent, violent, drug fueled ravings every time you get hunted calling every wolf who hunts you a coward and every other name you can think of. Spam their PM boxes and threaten eternal vengeance. Always make sure to get the name of the person who actually pulled the trigger, and kill them whenever possible using whatever means necessary. Kamikaze the perpetrator if no other means are available. Make it clear that if they want war then they will get war.
That actually worked for me about 3.5 years ago. I went a long string of games without being hunted after a string of going within the first 2-3 nights almost every game.
HuhWho --please point him or her out to me-- is saying lynching or hunting a returning or new player is preferable to lynching or hunting the guys who are regulars?
Exactly no one is saying that. No one but you.
HuhI'm saying the exact opposite -- let the irregulars live. What makes you think I'm saying that hunting or lynching an irregular is preferable to hunting or lynching a regular?
I'm not saying that you're saying that I'm saying that you're saying that. However, I will note that jonti-h lodged an indignant protest when I suggested that an ideal endgame would be full of irregulars, instead of the gentry.I'm saying you're the one saying we're saying that. When we're not. Only you are bringing it up. I TRULY believe if some old vets and new players play in a game, they won't be the first to go.

Great idea. You do not need crazy roles and traits for that type of bloodbath either. A massive game, with 3-4 wolfpacks and multiple hunter/brutals would be great fun. Add in starting apprentices for the goodie scanners and call it a day. And that type of game is not screwing with Werewolf either. Keep the roles and traits simple, just hand out more brutals and hunter traits than usual. Keeping the crazy traits and roles to a minimum would mean analysis, although difficult, would still be possible.
I would be all over that game. Even though I would not make it past night 3. Crazy, blood-drenched insanity with enough knowns to make logic still possible. Perfection. If only we could get the players.
Because you also suggested his early death.
I think all we can ask for is to have good players and a good GM. The rest will all fall into place naturally. There's no need to have a "do not hunt returning veterans or new players" rule, just like there's no "kicking of old ladies is not allowed" law. We have common sense, we know not to do that, and we won't. Put the right people in the right places and everything will flow.
I'd be in...
...and as EURO so eloquently put it...
I'll be PM'ing like mad...

Being a GM does indeed solve your problem. There are basically three things you can do:
Create a fun and popular RP character: This will only keep you alive for 75% of the game.
Become johho: Slightly more difficult, but all you need is a highly analytical mind and a pipe.

So you are actually doing good. If you can consistantly keep yourself alive past midgame the victories will start to come rolling in.Statistics are against you.
Most games end with maybe 3-4 people still alive. Sometimes less. With 30+ players that means you have a very low chance of making it there. If you're good you win maybe 1 in 6 games. Getting close to the end game 3 games in a row is actually a pretty good score.
I have to prove my worth to Jacob.

And why is everyone treating TheExecuter with such disrespect? Some of you guys are waging a one-sided flame war against him. Kudos to him for not responding in kind and attracting the wrath of the mods.

I have not tried you because you hold your cards to your vest very well. There is nothing to be gained from contacting you. Most players will give at least a hint somewhere about what they are thinking. You give nothing, good or bad. Posts or PMs. You are unreadable.
That strategy does have drawbacks. Be warned![]()
Don't see that much flaming to be honest. My only bug with him is that he keeps going an nauseam about no PMs (when it's been explained to him why that idea is cr*p) and his posts about the "closed society" comes across as rather trollsome.
When I joined in 2006 it felt like a closed society also - there was I5 who was the cunning one, the real Old Ones who knew WW like nobody else etc. What I did rather than moan about it was to get involved - even though I made a complete ar*e of the game a few times and worked into WW.
I think the number of players who fall into the latter category are disproportionately high in our current community. See, eg, It Has Babies. I think that brining back some of the experienced players will dilute this effect.players who are able to think for themselves rather than slather themselves in butter and wait for the wolves to shove em on the spit.
