Cultists may or may not start with a wolf contact. Sorcerers may or may not start with a wolf or cultist contact. I hope that answered your question.

Yes. Many thanks.

Cultists can scan? What? Isn't that a bit overpowered?

EUROO7 has set up cultists like sorcerers usually are: they can scan, and they can see Priests, Seers, Wolves, and Sorcerers. Everyone else appears as a villager to them.

Sorcerers are set up like Guardian Angels, except that rather than picking a target during that day to save the following night, they pick a target that night to save the following day. The sorcerers have a super scan that is one-shot, and removes their protection powers (permanently?).

I usually skim the setup page when the game starts, to see if there are any major gimmicks like this. I consult it again whenever I want clarification, eg "Are cultists attached?" or "Do hunters survive an attack if they repel it?"

EUROO7 hasn't said, but I'd assume with a cultist setup like this that they start unattached. They're closer to conventional sorcerers than conventional cultists, after all, and conventional sorcs are usually (not always?) unattached. On that basis I'd assume the sorcs start attached, because otherwise it would be a very difficult game for sorcs (need a cultist to find you and a pack before you can do anything).

There would be little to no point in having rivals on separate sides, since they could never both win anyway.

I already gave you an example to contradict this, a cursed villager rival paired with a wolf rival. We cannot safely assume that AVN is a villager.

2 innocent feelings dead? Ah, things used to be so much better. I remember homosexual curiosity. All those fond memories of playing in the grass, drinking champaigne an having quail eggs at Oxford.. Ah. Sebastian Flute.. But now that feeling is dead within me. It is time to take action, a time for alarm.

Sorry to disappoint you randakar but I'm sitting this game out. (Work sent me to Delft and we all know Werewolf can't be played from the Netherlands...)

EDIT: and I had to hunt two of you, Bagricula and theFreeman

Drat. Of course I read this well after the deadline ..
So apologies for the invalid vote yesterday. :(

As to the edit: Yes, well. That doesn't stop me from thinking you could have given me another day to fight you guys properly :p
Not that it really would have mattered anyway .. bloody busy weekends :(

How long will you be in the Netherlands and are you too busy with work to go grab a beer somewhere?

.. this is actually a very good point though.

It's a social gamification site for getting fit. You report your workouts and physical activity, get points and gain levels. And of course you can challenge each other to quests.

www.fitocracy.com

I still have 2 few beta invites if interested.

That's the site that had people report 'sexual activity' as workouts, right? :p

Going home Wednesday evening but I'm afraid we have stuff planned for all the evenings. Maybe next time? Is the Rysz mafia and/or AVN located near Delft?

Most of the "Rysz mafia" is near utrecht, about an hour out from Delft. Not too far really. The few people who aren't are near dordrecht .. which is closer.

None of the above are living in Delft, but it's within comfortable driving range for everyone. Next time work sends you over to our corner of the world, drop us a line. I'll be waving when I pass Delft tonight going home from work ;)

:)

vote randakar

His many quote post slowed down my searching of the recent posts. Curse your unnecessarily long post!

Consider this post my way to show you the finger :p

But I'll just refrain from going over the entire fake outing mess yesterday with a fine comb, ok?

Except for:

Fake outings are the weakest way to destroy a rival. I like the rival idea, but that sort of outcome is rather sad.

When I eventually GM again, I will autokill anyone who kills their rival in such a weak fashion. You should have to do something else that requires imagination, like making us a case out of their voting record, lying a hunter or brutal player into killing them, or setting them up to get killed by the wolves. Fake outing a rival is just weak. And stupid, as Joeb has explained.

This. :)

Except the wolves (hopefully) don't know their identity - at least not yet. And if they do learn their identity, they can be hunted. Any brutal or leader evil players would do well to take out a villager hunter rather than some random player with only a chance of being important at this stage of the game. As the game goes on, the odds shift.

This is true, but it hardly makes hunters priority #1. Easier to target, yes, but not higher priority. :)

WHY should we lynch AVN? Remember that our first priority is to lynch baddies. Stop wasting our lynch. I am NOT going to vote for AVN because he couldn't get his rival lynched without resorting to a fake JL. Better for the wolves to hunt him as a confirmed villager. Let him die the gruesome death he deserves.

Confirmed? Hardly.
People are well-adviced to not trust him with their heart's content quite just yet, I'd say. There's a good chance he's a goodie, but .. it's better to be paranoid than dead in this game.

Wait, who's to say that Paendrag isn't a wolf and, like that other game I played (was that with Capt. Kiwi as GM? I think it was...) the wolves start off with the names of the cultists but the cultists are unnattached, and the outing was nothing but a clever ploy by Paendrag to earn himself some legitimacy?

Because doing that would get him scanned? Ahhh, but what if Paendrag is Spiritually Attuned, and he hopes to catch the Seer when the Seer scans him. Thats possible, right? The Seer would of course out him straight away, but, well, the damage is already done, no? He would tell his packmates, and with the Seer gone we'll all be relying on blind luck to catch the wolves... I mean, er, analysis, because that works when you've had two outings in a row...

Just some absent musings from a noob player, feel free to send criticism. Is it against's Paendrag's playstyle? Is that why nobody has seriously considered it?

Oh, that sort of thing is of course possible. The problem is that very few people actually pull those kinds of stunts. There are only a handful of people I can think of there - drxav, for starters..

I usually skim the setup page when the game starts, to see if there are any major gimmicks like this. I consult it again whenever I want clarification, eg "Are cultists attached?" or "Do hunters survive an attack if they repel it?"

Reading the rules is a very good idea for most big games. There's a lot of variation in them. Last game a slight misunderstanding in what sorcerors scan for got drxav killed, for instance.
I don't always take my own advice there, though. :(

Whats up with bagricula?

Is letting AVN live feasible?

I reckon this will only lead to you guys lynching him in paranoia () after he have avoided to get hunted a few days in the future.

Damnit, where's the ROFL emoticon! Surely there's a board administrator we can petition about this travesty?

To the point... reading the rules is like a bit like reading terms and conditions, or a textbook: until you know what you're looking for an answer to, it's a bit hard to follow. You read through it and think "Oh yes, seers in this game can't be cursed" but among all the other little changes, you forget about it until you re-read to check that specific thing.

Ah, reporting sexual activity as physical activity. I seem to recall a class project in school where we had to keep a log of our physical activity, and a friend of mine being a bit embarrassed about how to record that particular physical activity. In hindsight, it's a wonder he didn't just brag about it.

I do love XKCD.

I'm as reasonable a lynch as any.

That said, I thought at the time that Xeno was part of a 3 way tie with Falc (who had just voted himself up, putting him in the lead). I then voted Xeno to try to restore the tie as it was yet very early in the day.

EUROO7 has set up cultists like sorcerers usually are: they can scan, and they can see Priests, Seers, Wolves, and Sorcerers. Everyone else appears as a villager to them.
Sorcerers usually don't scan for wolves. I am thinking that this is an indication cultists start unattached. Why else would they be able to scan for wolves?

Still, I wouldn't put it past EURO to have an asymmetric setup with an already affiliated cultist or something.
