Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm a hunter. Therefore I happened to notice this:

Not really. Several GM's (but certainly not all) have used it before.
It sort of makes you immortal. Baddies will not hunt you and goodies will not lynch you. And that's the reason I don't like this trait (in it's current form).

However, because there is a 50% chance that you are a baddie with the hunter trait, I personally think it makes sense to lynch you tomorrow.
In a normal game 1/3 of the players are baddie. So the chances of lynching a goodie on the first day are great.

But with the hunters divided quite equally (nowadays) between goodies and baddies it makes sense to lynch you.
Then we have a 50% chance of lynching a goodie.

I like those odds, so you will have my vote tomorrow :)

And if I get hunted tonight, it makes even more sense if the village will lynch you tomorrow :)

And you know all this how exactly? How could you possibly know that Hunters are evenly divided between baddies and goodies?

I don't know that for sure. But recent games showed that was the case. Also other games GM-ed by EURO.
Although I agree it's no 100% guarantee.

Surely if I'm so powerful, and thus very useful to the village if I'm good, would it not make more sense to scan me?
Assuming you're right about the 50% chance, you could lynch me to very slightly increase your chances of killing a wolf, and if I am one, then well played and the village has made a modest gain.
However, if I'm a goodie hunter then the future JL will have lost a potentially massive asset to their side, the dream JL spokesperson. And of course come endgame, if I haven't been hunted, I could whip out my .44 Magnum if need be to smite the last wolf in bloody victory (that was a bit of a tangent, but my point still stands...scan me!). From a neutral standpoint I would argue (well, obviously not entirely neutral) the benefits of keeping me alive until scanned outweigh the possible gains of lynching me. Obviously with my knowledge that I'm a goodie I know it's a very bad idea.


*I'm not sure about hunters being split equally between good and evil in this game; I'll take your word for it that that's the recent trend, but in my experience the vast majority of hunters were goodies, even though the GM's generally claimed that there could be several baddie hunters (in order not to make hunters unlynchable) they were usually mostly villagers, and I think that's best in terms of a good game. Hunter wolves or cultists don't seem to add as much to the game as a villager hunter. But I digress, there's no way of knowing for this game, but I think you're making a dangerously large assumption here, regardless of recent trends.

Ah, day 1 and already OY and AVN have both fixed their sights on getting me killed, whereas as far as I'm aware no one else can claim to have made even one mortal enemy! It's good to be back.

Where is the hotel? I don't see any buildings....except that strip club over there. That doesn't look like a hotel at all...there are supposed to be hotels! And why am I not getting any cell phone service? This place sucks.
