So, if I happened to go in as a special goodie, I guess for the most part it's just worth waiting till you get contacted by the JL before outing yourself?
Huh. So generally the goodies remain disparate and divided. I always thought that JLs were infiltrated by cursed players who were just unlucky, and that there was at least a somewhat decent way of filtering out the baddies, but this is just asking for traitors and wolves to infiltrate.Hence why JLs are infiltrated so often; you generally shouldn't contact your scans anyway unless you also have a wolf to out, which most people seem to forget.
This sounds like the best way. If he isn't lynched or hunted, he'll be scanned by both seer and priest (assuming both still live).Every now and then a villager with Xly powers hits gold and outs his target in the thread. That's the most certain way I know to start a JL. Unless said villager gets lynched before he can be confirmed as a goodie by the scanners.
Yeah, definite problems with the idea of linking. Contact the wrong person and you are on the outs. Though, I guess one could use deception in this, something like "I am not the seer, I know the seer and am acting as his link to you. You'll be contacting everyone else." Again not surefire, and also you'll have to reveal yourself to the Guardian angel or Doctor if you find one, which again runs risks.This. And even then you might want to just contact a single one of your scans; perhaps even use him as a binding link and have him be the one contacting the rest of the JL---that can be dangerous too though. But if you have a double scanned villager then letting him do all future contacting of scans might be a good idea. You can also promote somebody to such a binding link if you haven't been hunted for a long time after contacting him. But again there is a risk involved in introducing such a middleman. The lesson still stands that you shouldn't contact more people that absolutely necessary though. And if you have a baddie and no scanned villagers then it can be worth it to wait a couple days to scan a villager, since a scanner doing the outings never ends well for the village.
As I recall it Jester could only jester a specific player once per game.Or perhaps have a rule that jester/distiller can't jest/distill the same person two nights in a row?
Rest assured that some people are generally very trustworthy no matter your allegiance
Sure; on the other hand it can also work really well. But it is risky.Yeah, definite problems with the idea of linking. Contact the wrong person and you are on the outs. It has evolved since then though; I have never seen a jester which can't jest every night. As I recall it Jester could only jester a specific player once per game.
Never really trust anybody. In general of course. There can be situations where you can; and if you are the van Helsing and super scan somebody as a non cursed villager then you can trust him 100%. Also you only know your role, so if you are up for lynch then letting yourself lynch is a really poor strategy, since you let the only person you know for certain is a goodie die (assuming you are a goodie). Thanks for all the info. Damn, this thread moves fast. Generally though, any tips for a new player (at least to the big, though I'm not really that familiar with WW)?
Don't trust anyone. If someone tells you to vote someone, and they announce that the seer told them to do it in thread, vote for that someone. Don't trust anyone. Don't random vote. Don't say that you are a werewolf. Think before voting. Don't trust anyone. If you are a wolf, vote as you would if you were a villager. Listen to people's analysis, and if you feel confused about something, examine why you are confused. Did I mention not trusting anyone? Thanks for all the info. Damn, this thread moves fast. You forgot that besides not trusting anyone he also generally should follow what the JL says---unless the JL is suspicious. Also getting contacted by PM and asked to do something, e.g. save somebody, isn't necessarily suspicious, since it is a way to somewhat stealthily have an important goodie saved. On the other hand it can also be abused.Don't trust anyone. If someone tells you to vote someone, and they announce that the seer told them to do it in thread, vote for that someone. YES! Another animal avatar! Welcome!
I think he's returning?
He is returning indeed.
Cool, Delta and Caesar are both back.

Well, after all that's where we found him.....

Also don't be stupide. Sometimes you need to trust people.
In that case I'd be a protector, and therefore should at least be put in contact with a link from the JL. If I'm a guardian angel, and I get a random PM from someone to protect person A, I might do it, but I'd be highly suspicious. You forgot that besides not trusting anyone he also generally should follow what the JL says---unless the JL is suspicious. US Primary one.Wait, Canadian's played in a Lite before? Which one?
US Primary one.
What I meant is that you might get contacted and asked to unvote x; depending on situation following that might be a good idea.In that case I'd be a protector, and therefore should at least be put in contact with a link from the JL. But yeah, if you do get contacted by the JL, follow what they say unless it turns out you really shouldn't, in which case, don't follow them.
