This. And I did say stereotypical; I am not saying that Americans in general are that way. In fact the few Americans I have met and what my aunt and uncle who lives in NY have told me seems to suggest most Americans aren't that way. Though of course really small sample size.
But American media most certainly is that way; there things aren't allowed to be dark and gritty; or realistic.
It indeed means fornicating with a horse; though it is far from as "bad" as the American equivalent with the f-word since human reproduction and words associated with it isn't taboo here. (And there are far worse words.)

The f-word actually is in common use for some reason; got funny at the last winter olympics where the Danish curling skipper didn't set a stone perfectly and therefore said it and some American media (think it was NBC) caught on to it and went ballistic... The economists always include a stripshow; and said strip show has been shown parts of in national prime time news (they were reporting on the boat race and the stripper happened to be in the middle of her show when they were making the report).
And that is just a few examples.
Could things like that happen in America? As far as I am aware they couldn't due to your taboo on nudity and sex in media. And as mentioned a Swedish filmatisation of Astrid Lindgreen's Madicken (i.e. a childrens movie) would land you in jail for a very long time if you get taken with it in the US---or at least according to Stonewall.

Well, I could never picture anything like that ever happening here in the US, given the Republican Party exists. Yeah, Nudity is not allowed on TV and is usually censored, even if it's non sexual (look up Naked & Afraid, a survival series where the contestants are nude, and that's pretty much the extent of what the FCC will let you get away with.)
Meh pretty soon TV is going to all be on the internet naively and good luck keeping nudity of the internet.
