Wouldn't help. The people who don't post in the future would just post 2 minutes earlier and the people who post in the future would still risk inadvertently going over the deadline.

The thing about the future posting thing that confuses me, is why the web designers would seemingly design a system that doesn't let people do something that should be impossible. They seem to have set up the system to prohibit people from posting before a post that has already been posted. Were they planning for repeated violations of causality.

A better way of saying this is that not only is the c'an't post' thing not WAD, I can't imagine how it ever could be WAD.

Yeah it seems strange. Though I might have an idea as to why it is so. It might be to avoid the OP of a thread posting in the future and then the replies posting normally making them the OP instead of the actual OP; that could potentially royally mess things up.

The fact that it's possible to sing the words "I am special, I am special, I am me." unironically is particularly telling of how pathetic the world we live in today is.

And what is wrong with that? Can you as a windows peasant use tools from CERN directly without having to do any modifications? Or directly access say the SONG telescopes from home? (Assuming you have observation time.) That is actually a really awesome feeling to sit in Århus and remotely use a large telescope on the Canaries. You just have to remember to check nobody has sneaked into the telescope room because otherwise you are making him mush when you turn the telescope... We did that in a lecture once---remotely using the telescope that is; we haven't turned a man into pulp as far as I know.

No matter if the forum is messed up or not, the forum clock is what is used if precise deadline is stated. Seems this forum hangup will jeopardise last minute shenanigans but that's nothing new as old forum would crash routinely years ago. It's just something everybody needs to deal with and take that into account.

There is absolutely no case on me. I am being run up solely because Yakman finds Ubuntu communist. We are on day 4 and Yakman and several other players are willing to do a random bandwagon. If it is still possible I would actually like to have a switch to Yakman because that random vote on me which triggered the wagon is really wolfish. Several of the follow up votes are too, but the initiator is the worst I think.

You are aware how many technologies originate from NASA---especially the Apollo missions? If people didn't do such science stuff you for instance wouldn't have teflon. And without science you probably wouldn't have a good computer either. Or a smartphone. Many now really useful technologies for the big corporations owe their existence to scientists who made the ground research due to it being interesting; not necessarily because it was useful at that time. You like encryption? Well you can thank the mathematicians who for over a century competed to find bigger and bigger primes. They couldn't really use them for anything though---until encryption came about.
And there are many such examples.

Is Nell actually a girls name in English? Or is it just a shorthand for Nelly?
Also if you don't explore you won't make progress and without progress you will stagnate and get overtaken as China did. That isn't particularly capitalist to want to lose market position and wealth.
