Genre?

I'm having fun with Fallout New Vegas at the moment.

Turn based tactical games, RPGs, or something strategic.
I was thinking about buying divinity: original sin, but the best option there is the collectors edition which is silly if you have nobody to give the second copy of the game to.
Also, given that some of the best games I've played this year are actually free, it's a tad on the expensive side ;-)

Meh.
Don't take me wrong, it's probably good. I'm just not sure I'm into that atm.

Simutrans. It's free and rather difficult. Make sure to increase industry spacing and starting money in settings under the economic tab before you play, though.

I doubt the curve will be as steep as the Dwarf Fortress curve is.

It's like Dwarf Fortress, but with cool graphics

Alternately, anything made by Telltale if you like story driven games.

I would suggest a Paradox game but you already have CK2 which IMO is the best one by far.

There's also "Plague, INC", which is like werewolf on a macro scale.

And lastly both portal games for something more casual.

That's a bit of a list there. None of which I've played. Hm.

Do check them out on youtube, they're great. Also, you said you liked RPGs and Strategy games, so also consider Mount and Blade(MathasGames has a nice playthrough of it). I don't have it because the people behind it are the worst racists I know and refuse to sell it in my country(read: region locked ) but from what I've seen it sounds real good.

Have you read the OT thread? That is pretty much the epitome of what you described in there. The calculations and stuff are just mental.

I'd actually love to be able to master a game like that, and go that in-depth on all the mechanics - but I don't have the attention span or the willpower to do it.

I still Mount and Blade, a few weeks ago I couldn't stop playing it, then you know whenever you play a game for ages, then once you stop for a few days you just can't get back in.

I don't care for graphics, really. M and B is an awesome game and you should really give it a try anyway.
