This is the second time that one of my family members starts discussing the game with me on Google Chat. I am growing a bit suspicious of this (although the first time he was indeed just a villager). Why discuss in a chat, what you can discuss in the game thread? Why should we, who have multiple options of communication which other players not have (except for PM, which anyone can use), make use of that? The discussion needs to be in the thread, except for the wolves and perhaps the JL. But the wolves know the roles of the other wolves, and the JL (usually) consists of the seer and scanned villagers. Except for a failure on the secureness of the JL, there is no role information to be discovered through those communication channels.
Discussion behind the scenes like these, are for the purpose of trying to find role information. I believe these should be in the open, or at least the information gained by it should be in the open rather sooner than later. For it is in the interest of the villagers to get as much information as possible, so they can focus on finding the real wolves. Extrapolating on that, I think villagers (except for those in the JL, but they are not plain villagers anymore in that case), have no interest in working behind the scenes, as it withholds information from the game thread. Information which can be useful for the other villagers as well. Would I be way off if I estimate that there is almost as much communication behind the scenes as in this thread? Is that the reason why more often than not, it is quiet in the thread?
Probing other players to find out their roles. I really don't see why that should be done behind the scenes. Why not do it in the open? Just ask a directed question: "Rysz, what do you think about Randakar's switch?" The other player can choose to answer, or ignore. He could be voted upon to force him to answer. Either way, there is information to be gained (a non-answer is information as well). And everyone KNOWS that information. Everyone can use that information to draw their own picture of the roles distribution.
There are exceptions ofcourse. Any knowledge which can be used by the wolves against the village (and especially the JL), should be handled carefully.
Anyway, this morning, Sedracus asked me what we could do against the heretics and infidels. He thought Randakar's sudden vote change to e_L, and subsequent bandwagon bizar. Especially without seer.
Well, I'll answer that in here. I am not amazed by Randakar's action. I am amazed though by the hugh bandwagon, considering that other votechanges didn't produce bandwagons. However, I don't think that says anything about Randakar's role, only that he seems to have some part of AOK reincarnated in him. Furthermore, I don't think Randakar would choose to sacrifice a packmate life like this, especially when there was no danger (AT ALL) to his packmate. I am 100% sure Randakar is not a packmate of E_L. He could still be a wolf from another pack ofcourse.
What to do against the infidels? To get back to Sedracus' first question. Not much at the moment, except of making sure there is as much discussion and information in the thread. So there.
