For millennia, cultures across the globe have used plants in the Ephedra genus medicinally. Interested in the compounds responsible for Ephedra's medical uses, Japanese chemist Nagai Nagayoshi isolated the compound ephedrine, still commonly used to treat asthma, from the plant in 1885. Later, he was able to derive the related compounds amphetamine and methamphetamine from ephedrine.
As generations of college students, fighter pilots, commercial truckers, writers, athletes, models, and party animals can attest , amphetamine is a miracle drug. At moderate doses, it is relatively safe (unless you're hypertensive...) and effective in enhancing concentration, performance, alertness, and suppressing appetite. At higher doses, it becomes highly addictive.
Drug addiction is a scourge, taxing and immiserating communities worldwide. Economists estimate that the societal costs of drug addition outstrip those of diabetes and cancer combined. Though today perhaps overshadowed by the opioid crisis, methamphetamine abuse is particularly prevalent in the American west and southwest, as well as rural areas of the midwest and south. With such a perfect captive customer base, however, criminals can make fortunes manufacturing, transporting, and peddling their illicit wares, callous to or perhaps even reveling in the misery and suffering they spread.

ADVENTURE IN ALBUQUERQUE!
You are citizens of the great American city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the 2000's. Methamphetamine abuse is devastating your community. Can you band together, with the aid of the local branch of the US Drug Enforcement Agency, to tame this menace and bring those who profit from the pains of others to justice? Or will the drug-dealers, cartels, meth-cooks and crooked lawyers continue to operate with impunity?
I shall inform every player of his or her role via PM at the start of the game. Most of you will be ordinary citizens of Albuquerque, determined to heal your city from the great social ill that is methamphetamine addiction by bringing justice to those who profit from it. Some of you, however, will be members of these shadowy organizations or the corrupt lawyers they employ. These 'baddie' roles will be disclosed in group private conversations. Every 24 hours, the local citizen advisory board will meet during the day and debate who might be a criminal and arrange for the arrest of one or more of their fellow citizens. During the night, the criminals will strike back by arranging for the death or incapacitatation of those they determine to be a threat to their continued survival. The citizens will win by eliminating all members of the major drug distributing organizations. Of course, it is possible that there are several criminal syndicates competing for influence in the city. The criminals will win by securing a voting majority in the citizen advisory board, allowing them to cripple law-enforcement and operate with impunity, and by eliminating all rival criminal organizations, should such rivals exist. Special roles and traits shall be further detailed below.
During the day, all players will vote on who they believe to be a member of a criminal organization by posting in this thread the word 'VOTE' and the name of the player for whom they intend to vote. Obvious nicknames or shortenings of names are permissible, unintuitive ones are not. All players, good and evil alike, must vote daily. Missing 2 or more votes will be grounds for substitution or removal from the game. Votes may be changed by typing 'UNVOTE' and the name of the player one has previously voted, and then voting again as previously described.

§5. Discussion of PM numbers is forbidden.
§6. SPECTATORS AND GHOSTS MAY HAUNT, TAUNT AND FLAUNT, BUT NEVER SUGGEST ANY COURSE OF ACTION, AFFECT THE GAME IN ANY OTHER WAY NOR REVEAL ANY SECRET/INSIDE INFORMATION. ANYONE CAUGHT DOING IT WILL BE *PERMANENTLY* BANNED FROM PARTICIPATION. NO EXCUSES ARE VALID.
§7. When doing ghost/spectator commentary, please use a non-white color, but don't use this shade of green, which belongs to Alynkio exclusively in the context of this thread.
§8. Alliances which aren't based on your roles in the game between players are forbidden. These alliances which continue from one game to another undermine the whole idea of the game.
§9. - When asking to sub then please do so by PM; the GM will keep a hidden sub list.
§10. - In the event I make a mistake (i.e. I misinterpret a hunt order) my mistake must stand. Apologies should such a thing occur.
