A villager wouldn't prefer anybody dying over somebody not themselves on day 0, since they know the allegiance of nobody. That is what makes it sketchy.
But I fully agree that Torn and k-59 are sketchier.
Firstly a game this size is bound to have multiple packs; three packs in fact are quite likely. Especially given that sms wants a back to the roots game you can be certain that there is multiple packs.
We started 40 man strong. If there are two packs johho's golden rule says there will be 13---perhaps 14 baddies. If there is three packs johho's golden rule says 16 baddies. Due to sms wanting a conventional game there is pretty much no chance of 4 packs or more.

Given the hard cap on PMs which mean that at most 6 people, i.e. GM and 5 baddies, can be part of a PM it is highly unlikely a pack has over 5 starting baddies. And due to problems with attachment when there already are 5 baddies in a pack (dead or alive, you still need to start a new PM and copy over content as needed) I would say 4 starting baddies a pack is more likely---though 5 a pack is pretty much needed if this is a two pack game.

If it is a two pack game there there probably was 5 baddies a pack. That would leave 3 or 4 unattached baddies which seems a reasonable number. If it was 4 baddies a pack that would mean 5 or 6 unattached baddies at start which is too much in my opinion, since it means that if one of the packs gets disproportionately hit early the baddies can block up and reach parity very fast. For the same reason I would assume only 1 cultist a pack no matter whether it's a pack of 4 or a pack of 5.

If we have 3 packs then three packs of 4, with 1 cultist in each, and 4 unattached baddies seems reasonable.

Also you need to remember that the sham vote winner is a likely scan; so a baddie wouldn't really want a mate to take it, since it brings needless attention for a minor trait.

Okay, a wolf wouldn't want their packmate to get the trait, but I still hold that a villager could have meta-reasons for preferring Rovsea to live. For example, many people have meta-reasons for preferring literally everyone to you, you cannot deny they do not with amount of times you die Day 1. I think it's reasonable for SpockyT to have meta-reasons for preferring npstr to die over Rovsea.

Ok so re-read thread a bit...
Key outcomes/feel free to disagree.
Jerray - hides his profile previous games to do shifty things (his own words). Unhides when called out. Jerray confirms that he was sending PMs but does not tell to whom or why...

Conclusion: sorry guys and gal but Jerray is hiding something related to this game. His panic is typical noob teenage panic to being caught...

Now the portion that came to me overnight is that he actually might be a goodie with a nightly trait as opposed to a wolf....

In addition a lot of people are trying to look past Jerrays behavior and brush it under the carpet are people who based on my profile reads are rather uncomfortable with "big brother watching over us concept" e.g. certain posting demographic on this OT forum...

In short Jerray is hiding game related stuff, the question is: is he an important nightly action goodie or a wolf.....

Jerman TK also is the third voter on me, and is either trying to start a counter bandwagon (and most likely a wolf) or based on his left leanings simply thinks that NSA spying is bad , goverment control is bad, capitalism is evil bad, and free college is a universal right...

I'm not sure if I should be impressed that Split managed to drag political persuasion into the question "Is sending PMs suspicious?"

Jeray had his profile hidden long before this game, which I happen to know because I'm in regular PM contact with jeray. Not because of Werewolf, mind you, but because we're both playing in another game. People do other things than Werewolf on this forum, and even if they didn't, there is still a plethora of reasons why a vanillager would be sending PMs.

Now, you could say that jeray reacted poorly or wolfishly to being confronted with this PM nonsense, but it's been established about a 1000 times now after various noobs kept going on and on about the subject, that someone sending a PM in and of itself is not suspicious, and that invariably the people who got "caught" sending a PM were just villagers who didn't bother to hide the fact that they were in a PM.

You don't have to be left leaning to think NSA spying is bad. Or that government control is bad. Also what do you have against free university?

Hiding your profile doesn't do what you think; you want to hide your activity to prevent these meta arguments.

I know that. Do you even read my posts? You do this quite often, putting words in people's mouths that they haven't said, and frankly, it's annoying.

Here, I will provide proof.

The first time Split presents his case:
Vote Jerray
For blocking his profile to hide ulterior motives.

Which I immediately deride as the worst case in werewolf history:

I thought I've seen it all, but here it is: the worst case in werewolf history.

I also kept saying how ridiculous that particular case is:

How is locking his profile suspicious? You can't get any info from that. Him PMing someone might indicate something, but his profile?

He said he did it when he did shifty stuff in a past game.

So, I realise that hiding your profile means nothing. Nothing. Nada. It's a mindboggingly stupid case, and I kept repeating that.

What I did find a good case is this:

And Jerray is PMing someone right now, btw.

This is not a bad case though. If that's true. And he was managing account details now. That is, kids, why you always hide your profile.

Jeray forgot to hide his activity, which Split used to see that jeray was PMing someone. Meta-gaming? Sure, maybe, but the cat is out of the bag, the info is out there, and it's fair game to use it. jeray then skirted around the PM question, and basically ignored the accusations.

That is why I'm voting jeray, and that is why I think he is a baddie: not because he hid his profile, but because he was PMing someone and then basically ignored the accusations.

In the below post you say "That is, kids, why you always hide your profile." I.e. you say that hiding your profile would prevent seeing that meta---which as you mentioned now is wrong. Though perhaps it was a brainfart and you meant to write activity. Anyway that was the post I replied to and I didn't put any words in your mouth, since whether or not it was a brainfart you did write it.

Fair enough, although it should have been clear enough from the context that I made a simple mistake in wording.

Interesting, the case surrounding Torn seems to be making a certain degree of sense to me. The weird occurrence tied to sorc claim by Marshall and his insistence on lynching a player that was PMing. Whilst PMs can possibly show wolves, they don't do that regularly. Also Wagon seems to have mostly gotten his nose clean from the OT. Though JCan is interesting as well at this point due to avoiding the main candidates. The case around jeray seems very trumped up at this point. I've got no info on how SPLIT plays, so I cannot really say anything about him, the same goes for Steed. The k-59 case seems somewhat worthy as well, but he is already ahead. Hmm.... Decisions, decisions. I think a remake of the TIE should be in order.

I did reply once about the PMs, in that I said I'm not going to explain them because PM is short for Private Message for a reason. I'll say why I sent a PM once the seer comes out and says why he sent a PM to esemesas about scanning someone. Is that not fair?

Are games always that dead nowdays?
We are on page 63. Also note that it is morning/midday in the US and that it is late afternoon in Europe; i.e. a time of the day which traditionally is slow.

Hey Wagon, since it's slow anyway, any news on the train front? Have there been any sightings of ye olden steam trains in Denmark recently?

One of the Dutch train types had its last voyage not too long ago, the so-called "monkey head" :D
