OEO works on any nightly attack. A hunter shot on the vH would result in a wolf death just as much as a hunt.
Has this always been the case? I could have sworn at one point it only applied to wolves, but then assassin traits became so much more popular.

Can we clear the veteran players of being part of the Basketball pack simply because I can't imagine they would have hunted a OEO?

Not necessarily, and your post makes me a tad suspicious of you to be honest. If there is only one pack, which with a game this size, I'd say is the more likely scenario, then it would be perfectly rational to sacrifice one of your own wolves to kill the van helsing. With one pack, there would probably be 4/5 wolves +2/3 other baddies, so losing one wouldn't be the end of the world, and you'd quickly eliminate the threat of a massive JL forming around the van helsing.

Your post makes me suspicious of you because:
a) you seem to imply that there are definitely at least 2 packs, which is something you'd only know as a baddie
b) you immediately try to put suspicion away from veteran players

Vote npstr

As an aside, why are we even using the van helsing role? What's stopping a van helsing from just claiming on N0 and forming a massive JL around him, and forcing the wolves to sacrifice at least one of them to eliminate him, by which time it might be too late for them anyway?

Easy, the wolves have weapons to avoid the OEO with brutals or assassin shots (I'm sure there are more that I'm forgetting) to prevent the VH to ever declare such a role publicly.

Sure, if they do, but brutal also requires a sacrifice of sorts, and I don't think an assassin shot would kill the van helsing without killing the the assassin, as it says that OEO works for any nightly attack.

Seriously, since when has OEO applied to more than just wolf hunts? Was that changed for this game or have I not been paying attention/

Tornadoli may be on to something here, and we have almost nothing else to go on yet today. Further, if Npstr does turn out to be a wolf, we should start looking at the veteran players, Npstr's Vet Deflection would lead to one or more of Npstr's fellow wolves being a veteran, no point steering the blame away from Vets if there are none there. Then again, Npstr might believe himself a Vet himself. And I wouldn't think of him being someone to protect a wolf, but he is thinks protecting an ally is personally advantageous.

Being bitter over people voting you does nothing to convince others of your innocence nor does it particularly endear you to others. I know this because I myself am notoriously bitter and an easy lynch to boot.

Regardless, your post is a bit presumptuous. Sacrificing a wolf to an OEO isn't an awful idea, especially early on before they can setup any sort of contact between important goodies. Obviously, shooting them or getting them lynched is better, but if you don't have that option then you'll just have to deal with it.

I'm not sure I am convinced of your innocence, your post easily could have been a misdirection aimed at getting others to look amongst the newbies and louts for wolves and thereby afford a degree of security for the lycanthropes. That's all conjecture of course, and it could be a big pile of echidna vomit, but it's the only lightbulb in the box at this point.

I believe npstr to be the most likely to be a wolf, due in no small part to his public analysis of the wolves' miscue last night. Also, is he lumping himself into the category of "veteran players"?

In any case, he already has a small bandwagon on him, and so some weaker players would usually vote someone else so as to avoid the appearance of bandwagoning. Not me; I believe him most likely to be evil right now, and so I intend to lynch him until such time as he is dead. Besides, he is voting himself... setting up a counter wagon at this point falls right into his machinations.

There is no one better to lynch this early in the game, and Ironhead had a good point that setting up a counterwagon would potentially let npstr avoid death. People say bandwagoning is bad, but as I understand it it's just because it's easy for wolves to do it and avoid suspicion, but the only alternative I see at this point is just voting someone random and throwing away a vote.

The case on Npstr is quite weak. Claiming Npstr is insinuating that there are two packs is not true from what I can see of what npstr posted. He merely restricted what he claimed to the one pack seen. Had he acted like it was the only pack, I'm sure people would be after him for potentially having inside information. His claim about veterans being clear is more suspect, though not to the degree some claim. Npstr wouldn't be referring to himself with that designation, and as pointed out, he was wrong anyways about it being a bad move for the wolves. If he/his pack was actually responsible, I think he would know that the hunt was a good idea, and that other players would be able to figure it out. I won't really claim that he's an unlikely wolf, but he's certainly not a likely enough wolf to be the only candidate today.

Of course everything changes with his decision to vote himself. It's a poor move, and one that attempts to exploit the usual reaction to a single candidate getting many votes. He likely plans to snipe off himself once another candidate gets close. I don't really blame the people voting for him afterwards, since this is not a tactic to encourage.

That being said, I would rather find another candidate, one more likely to be a wolf, simply because throwing another vote down on npstr doesn't help anyone. Though day 1 doesn't leave us with much to go off of. Duke Dan was a major candidate, but few responded to him getting run up relatively late in the day. K-59 is the only (living) player who was maybe helping Dan with his vote. He voted De Chat up to three votes shortly after Dan got a second vote. Not a stunning case, but the second best after the one on npstr, and he doesn't need more votes.

FWIW, I thought npstr's questions last night sounded sincere, I'm unimpressed by such evidence as has been presented against him, and he's a player I'm none too fond of lynching without solid evidence against him.

Duke Dan was a major candidate, but few responded to him getting run up relatively late in the day. K-59 is the only (living) player who was maybe helping Dan with his vote. Good, glad to see I'm not the only one whose first instinct was to look in that direction. Ironhead's also a possibility for bringing in wombat as a two-vote candidate along with Dan, but this seems like as good a start as any.

Why Torn?

Essentially, he's the first one to start the npstr bandwagon. While I admit that that's a rather weak excuse, I have yet to hear any defense or better candidates. I'd be willing to hear some debate on the matter, but until that happens, my vote stays.

Look, I'd appreciate a discussion about the topic. You seem to think I didn't change my mind on it, but I did. I'd love to delve deeper into it.

But coming into the thread being voted for playing the game by someone who has no time to play the game, and this person getting zero fire for that, that just kills my want to play. You guys can have the - to me absolutely not comprehensible - fun of playing with the afks while I can too find a better past time than playing a game where ppl don't want to play it and actively boot the ones that do.
Being the egocentric bitch I am that's what I'd call a win-win situation.

Looks like real players arrived though. Thanks aedan for pointing out the flaws of the case, both of Tornadolis reasons being barsh assumptions. Do you think it is more likely to come from a village Tornadoli or a wolf Tornadoli?

Don't know about the thing on k-59, that vote doesn't look like a wolf be making it.

Btw Tornadoli I agree about it being more likely a single pack, going to assume it for now.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be busy for the rest of the day, so I'll have to do this now.

Lets look at this post: Spockyt basically just want to get behind Tornadolis case, the things he tries to add to justify his vote and don't get fire for bandwagoning are shallow tho.
He talks about what happens when I die and my allegiance is known. That adds nothing to a case on me. If anything he is trying to say 'let's lynch npstr for info', and while thats ok, I think lynching an active player for info would be a bad play.

The interesting detail is him saying what should happen if I turn up wolf, but not what should happen if I turn up villager.
If he was a wolf he'd know I'm not a baddie, so he either probably would not have made that statement, or would have also suggested an alternative course of action if I turn up villager (which he would be expecting being a wolf).
Based on this I'd say the Spock looks villagery.

I believe npstr to be the most likely to be a wolf, due in no small part to his public analysis of the wolves' miscue last night. Also, is he lumping himself into the category of "veteran players"?

I'm a bloody noob at this game.

Fair point. Though I voted myself out of frustration, there's not a big plan behind that.

I'd like to know how exactly my posts from last night make me wolf.
