I see the same if I take a Native OPM and Migrate them into Nipmuc. History file fail.

None of the default nation starting positions have them, but maybe other uncolonised/unmigrated (at game start) provinces do.

Ah yeah, it's a typo in the history file. Unlikely to be generally applied to other provinces as well:

Code:
1776.7.4 = {    owner = USA
                controller = USA } #Declaration of independence
                add_core = USA

Notice the add_core was meant to be inside the 1776 date block {}, but is not.

Is this actually exploitable? Can you force-release a country if it has no cores of the proper culture?

Yeah you're right, you can't release USA so it's not actually exploitable at all I think. At least you can't in a 1444 start. Maybe there's a narrow window of opportunity at a (much) later bookmark start where the province could have/get the right culture.

But not really an issue, no.

Am I missing something? Can't he conquer the province and release the USA as a vassal since it has a core?

Is there any way to change the culture so I could release the USA?

If you had the right culture for USA you could Culture Convert it. Otherwise, no. I'm not sure what the right culture for USA is - maybe English works? Or if it's a specific USA culture, then there's no way to do that until USA already exists.

Certainly a Native nation can't do this. Maybe England/Great Britain coming over there before 1776 could do it.

While we are talking about migration wonkiness, you can culture convert to another culture as a migratory nation, because province culture doesn't change with migration. I became one of the unplayable cultures, Inuit.

This was fixed in patch 1.5. When you migrate to a new province not of your culture the province culture and religion changes to the primary culture and religion of your tribe.

Is there a way to change the culture of the province with console commands? USA in 1450 sounds hilarious to play as.
