this is the first time you actually managed to make a large part of the community hate a DLC.

As they've said it is not an expansion just a minor DLC, i'd rank it similar to Ruler designer, it's not that big and it's totally optional

Its not a patch, but DLC. No one forces you to play it.

I'm pretty sure PI expected these reactions. And seriously, with some exceptions, there aren't as bad as some try to make them - many don't like the DLC and are honest about that, not much wrong with that...

To me this seems mostly like a case of failed expectation management and communication. If Paradox for example had announced this at the same time as they announced their next major DLC (I suspect it will be pagans) and told everyone that they could play this fun little DLC while waiting for the next major DLC, then I do not think many would have objected.

I do not think much time was wasted building this, and hopefully the bad PR from this will be forgotten soon. But the lesson I would take from this as Paradox is to better control the expectations of your fans.

Note: I am personally no the least interested in a new ahistorical barbarian invasion.
