I'm really new to CKII, but I encountered a really strange situation, which seems like a bug to me.
My character was a Scottish Duke of Galloway (2 of its counties were part of my realm, 1 other was part of the king's demesne) and Duke of Moray (1 county was part of my realm, the other 3 were part of the king's demesne).
The King of England pressed a claim for the Duchy of Galloway, and his armies greatly outnumbered Scotland's. So, before Scotland was going to lose the war, I pressed my ducal claim on the county of Moray from and declared war on the king of Scotland. I figured, it would be easy pickings, since his forces were tied up. Immediately, the war between Scotland and England disappeared, and all of the Scottish forces were sent to Moray. I ended up having to surrender, my prestige and gold took a big hit, and the king's opinion of me dropped to -100, but I didn't lose Galloway to the English.
Has anyone else encountered a similar situation? I thought it was weird that the King of England would simply end the war for Galloway, since I declared war on Scotland.
