France somehow went Paternal Autocrat by 1938. I don't know how or when it happened, since I really wasn't paying attention, but I suspect slider moves and/or election events. Most of the cabinet members are democrat, so there probably wasn't a coup d'etat.

To me, this happens quite often since HoI2DD. From 1936 to 1938, France has two elections. In case they select "vote right" the last time (or twice), the Bourbouns will returen!

I playing a game as Austrailia, my original plan was to side with the soviets but since Japan was kicking everyone out of Asia i decided to side with them instead, i just managed to leave the UK alliance just before war!

4 alliances formed, Axis, Comintern, Allies and an Asian alliance with Japan, Australia, com china, Siam and some puppets i created (Indonesia, Ceylon, Yemen, Oman, Nat china (puppet of japan).

ASIA

1939-Austrailia joins Japanese Alliance
1939-Japan annexes/takes over china/india
1943-USA declares war on Germany AND Soviet union
1943-USA declares war on Japan
1943-Australia annexes New Zealand
1944-US troops land in on beachead between north korea and vladivostock
and make quick progress, pushing a 2 front soviet army back as far as the western edge of sikang!
1944-Australia takes control of dutch indonesia and liberates Indonesia as a puppet.
1944-some attempted invasion of nothern australia by the us (small amphibious force) which i JUST managed to stop as i had a small fleet carrying 3 extra infantry divisions on their way to indonesia on!
1946-German and US fronts meet in Russia!
1947-Nat china annexed a second time by US, com china now live in Taiwan.
1948-Japan has no supplies and i have to withdraw my troops from their territory in northen vietnam and conequently the US breaks deadloack at vietnam/siamese border. They annex siam and push into burma and vietnam.

The Potential to improve your IC is much better in AOD i love it! I have around 100 usable IC now!

EUROPE
1939-Germany declares war on allies as normal
1942-Soviets dow on Germany
1942-Germany launches a very succesful sealion and takes over the uk
1945-Attempted US invasion of UK but it is crushed by German garrisons.
1947-bitter peace for soviets, this has a strange effect where the fighting German/US front is replaced by a soviet.US front again! It actually benifits the soviets as all their troops strategically redeploy to the eastern front and push the US back (this front continually moves east to west and back again now).
1948-I created some events to simulate a German takeover of britain (i didnt like the british surrender event as it didnt allow a Free Britain to fight on in Africa).
1949-I created a German victory event (VE for Germany) seeing that they had defeated the Sovs and british/french and also stopped any chance of D-day and uk invasions. Their IC is also 600+ compared to US 500.
1949-The mod also gave an option for the US to make peace with Germany, i did some reading to the "what if" germany had won scenario and reckoned the US might try to make peace with Germany if Europe was lost and focus on killing Japan. An alternative was rising dissent but they chose peace and are now killing Japan and ME!

Africa
by 1949 africa is consumed by the italians, there was a US invasion in there but i think the Germans had a lot of troops here, and since the British IC was completely wiped out by the Japs in india and the Germans in UK they didnt put up much of a fight!

Both the French and UK are months away from annexation.

As Australia i also did an anphibious assualt on Iraq, Oman and Yemen, annexing them all, Italy also joined the fight in Iraq though they arnt my allies.

When you don't sign the MR pacts

So I didn't sign the MR pact and decided to go to war when the blessing event came around. I ended up taking out all of Germany's allies except Italy. However neither Germany or I (SU) can attack each other's holdings. I assume it's a bug in the game or in wine (I have one of the saves if anyone is interested). So I accepted all a peace with Germany after I took over all her allies except Bulgaria (who switched sides by even). Now I control Bulgaria as a puppet but Germany still has many Bulgarian divisions. Take a look.

My Japan game is already going nuts... Nats go with unified front in Xian, then this:

Tibet wished to join my alliance too 2 days later. Didn't let them though, wanted to have a proper showdown after Marco Polo, not immediately.

And the AI outsmarted me! Commie China dragged me into war a couple of days after I let them join my alliance... this AI opportunism is brilliant!

What you guys think?

Same thing happened to me in my USSR game when I refused the pact; couldn't attack any German provinces when war broke out. It's a bug.

The puppet problem is an old one and dates back through all iterations of HOI2 if I recall rightly. I've always rationalised it this way though - if several Bulgarian divisions are fighting against the Soviets alongside German divisions, and their homeland is taken over or puppeted by the Soviets, those soldiers are probably going to continue fighting for their independence or are simply going to be unable to all of a sudden switch sides, and will continue to be loyal to the axis-aligned old regime.

Thanks for the tip on the bug. And the Bulgarian divisions make sense in that regard so I'm not too worried about it. But will Bulgarian divisions fight Bulgarian divisions?

On an unrelated note, how was the speed on viewing the pictures? I've started to host them using Opera "Unite!" And if the speed is decent I'll continue to do so.

Ah well it's still a good game so I'll probably have a few more weird screen shots from it before it's all said and done.

Oh you dirty Aussie diggers! ;) Normally I play it the other way around...

Though as I'm now living in Melbourne, I guess it is an invasion force of only one.
One of those kinda guys huh?

Its ok. I play the other way too.
