Well, the damage was spread evenly over 40 divs or so, I used a lot of nat. spain units. But it was madness, I had to use all my u-boat force to stop the supplies coming through. The worst thing was, the UK was able to ship units to Gibraltar despite the might of the Kriegsmarine ( 4 BB, 5 CA, 10 CL and 10 DD ) stationed before the port.

Behold the might of the Finnish army! They were able banish the Russians from Karelia and then defend against them for 5 years!

Does anyone else know anything about this? Is it a bug? A friend of mine says this happens in his games very often

I'm playing an USA game and it had happened a couple of times. Every value in the production folder also seems to go up and down for a while every time a new unit is built and deployed. This didn't happen to me with Arma, so it's something new.

Uuhh! They're very nasty. The pen really is mightier than the sword - much mightier.

Yeah. I practically walked across the Maginot line, encircled and destroyed several ARM divisions, and then went over to have a picnic in Paris. With the massive dissent penalty the French forces were facing and the fact that a good chunk of their divisions were running around after partisans, it was over about 12 days after I started the invasion, and scotland declared independence from the UK shortly after (the whole island was completely partisan controlled). Even though the surrender event has now triggered and the UK is fascist and in the axis, they only have about 3 active IC and even places like Guyana are breaking away, so it looks like the damage is pretty much permanent.

It doesn't seem to work as well on the Soviets though. With the dissent reduction for them being a closed society it's a much slower process, but not only that, it seems much harder get spies through; i'm guessing the SOV AI must be stronger when it comes to counter-espionage. I'm gradually raising it, but it's much slower than taking out the Western allies was and they still have a lot of IC and barbarossa time is creeping up. Horribly gamey but fun to do. :D

Yea using smear campaigning is cheating the AI right now. You have like a 2% of doing the smear campaign but you still almost get it everytime. Just dont use smear campaign till they fix it in the next patch

I think all states with closed society on max have a significant counter espoinage boost. That's why it's much harder to get spies into the Soviet Union. It's realistic though, in USSR even in the 1980's the KGB kept a close watch on any foreigners, even tourists, also Soviet citizens that had contact with foreigners were also monitored. When I play Germany I send spies to USA and UK only as I am after the tech blueprints really, but sending spies to USSR is not the only hard bit, I once managed to have 11 spies in USSR at one point, but they were killed off within 3 or 4 months. It's so expensive that way and it's just not worth it. I hope that the spy system will be slightly rebalanced and altered in the next patch, but overall I think it's a good system.

France somehow went Paternal Autocrat by 1938. I don't know how or when it happened, since I really wasn't paying attention, but I suspect slider moves and/or election events. Most of the cabinet members are democrat, so there probably wasn't a coup d'etat.

Czechoslovakia also went Paternal Autocrat back in 1936. I think this was a coup d'etat event though.

Not a weird screenshot, no. Only the WORST THING THAT COULD EVER HAPPEN.

Once in DD-Arma I lost Rommel, Guderian and von Manstein in the French Campaign. It really gave Model a chance to shine, though . . .

Oh I agree. Autocratic nations should have significant security boosts in relation to democratic ones. I think it should be a lot harder, if not impossible, to completely collapse a western democracy with smear campaigns though. (But encouraging seperatism in the USSR should be a bit more feasible)
