I was playing a game in which I had a protectorate that was a Hive Mind.

The Hive Mind experienced a rebellion, except the rebels had my tech levels, normal ethics, and zero non-hivemind pops. And their only planet was a tomb world.

Fortunately for them, a migratory flock in my federation had some Rackets.

Is this expected behavior?

EDIT: Also, the new civ hates me for being a 'former oppressor', which at least sort of makes sense...

Maybe they were livestock slaves/undesirables who where eaten on the hive mind planets? It's the most "natural" state for not-hive mind pops on hive mind worlds. Hive have probably bought some on the market.
If you are not playing ironman you can load a save before rebellion happened and check who was living on this planet.

Wouldn't the ex-livestock pops still be there in that case? Livestock pops aren't being purged, after all.
